Yes, your motor can rev to 9K with a built head and bottom end. Can probalby do it a few times with a stock bottom end. . .

No. Power will drop off very quickly after 8000 . . .
So, yes, you can rev it that high if you need to, but your power will drop off. For most types of racing you will be faster if you shift earlier. . .

I don't think Martin ever did in this thread, but check out post numbers 236 and 443. They have scans from the magazine. Looks like I never did post scans from the June mag which had the HKS 272. I could do that if you want.

Do you know of any other threads which have compared the S1 to say the Kelford 272?

No... but if you want a good comparison for the kelfords... gsc s2's and cosworth m2's.. the s1's aren't in the same league as the kelford 272s...

As of earlier today I was set on the S1s due to the loss of tq at the low end with the Kelford 272s, but It appears from the charts the gains at the mid to top end are substancial. So now I'm reconsidering going with the Kelford 272s with the Beehive springs. Damn it, too many choices!!!

Well OKIX's car just made more power with FP5r's over the JUN 272 (using a Buschur head) and the FP5r made more power than the Kelford on this test, so chances are the Kelford and Jun 272 will be within a few HP of each other here and there.
You probably will do very well with either of them.

I love FP products but the 5r's seem to lose alot down low. I'm running a stroker and I want as much low end and midrange as possible. Being that I shift at 8300 it looks like the Kelfords or Juns would be the way to go for me.
Now when you say the Kelfords and the juns are with in a few hp of each other, is that in favor of the Juns or Kelfords?

I would talk with FP directly about your goals and setup. One option is to run the FP4R intake and FP5R exhaust which will help the spool a bit. I'm guessing that they'll tell you to run the FP5R though if you're on the 2.3l. FP also has other grinds that were developed for the stroker a few years ago. Check their website for details.
