With the Evo VIII Cosworth M2's (which have a 280 duration and an 11.0mm lift on both cams) the results should be pretty good in comparison since similar cams are used by most Evo IX owners....lets get the VIII owners some similar 'dyno proven' results

One thing to remember is that advertised duration is pretty much worthless when comparing cams. HKS 272, JUN 272, CRANE 272 are completely different from each other and make very different power. You really have to look at .050" lift duration numbers to get a better idea of what the cams are going to do.

Are you going to release the cam gear settings you used to get the cams to the manufacturer spec?

I noticed that you guys are trying to degree in the cams to the factory centerlines; however why don't you guys just install them straight up and run them out of the box?? It would make more sense to see the capablities of each cam as they were designed from the manufacturer. Just a thought

Martin,
Any chance that the graphs can be plotted using RPM instead of car speed?
BTW, I appreciate the time and effort of doing this type of test! Good job!

If I remember correctly the first article said that each cam is milled slightly different and may not even match the intended specs. Hence all the expensive testing to find it's centerline and correctly degree each cam to match the specs of the manufacturer. Two sets of cams from the same company can have the same duration and lift but be a half a degree off or more from each other.

Correct! All of the tolerances (Cams, cam gears, timing belt) can throw the cam off from the manufacturer intended 0. Therefore, AMS dialed them to their true 0 considering Piston 1 at TDC... regardless of what the cam gears are finally dialed.

sorry for this layover guys. Martin didn't realize that he was going to take a much needed vacation in the middle of this. I think he was due as he has not gone on one for the better part of 3-4 years LOL.
He will be back on Thursday and he will make up for lost time. Sorry again and thank you very much for your patience.
Eric
