I would rather sell the complete unit and keep my hands clean....know what I mean.
$1500.00 is a steal for a complete diff considering their arent a whole bunch floating around.

I was standing10ft from this car when it "went". No big noise, no high rev launch. Kinda wierd when it let go (he drove 1 foot then nothing). When mine blew on the dragstrip, it popped SUPER loud, and lifted the wheels off the ground almost, then the "black soot/smoke" poured out the vent and fenderwells. Complete opposite here. This guy (broeli) is a road racer, not drag racer as far as I know. Not sure of the history of the TC before he got it though.

Yep. No big noise at all. It went on a pretty soft launch. My open diff lasted FAR longer. I very rarely drag race with the Evo. As a matter of fact I have not made even one pass at the strip with the RS diff. I launched on it maybe 6 times....all during an autox start with no VHT to help grip. This is definitely an unusual failure.
My open diff went out on me at the strip when I was going to make a few passes at the Cincy DSM Shootout. I very rarely make drag strip passes. Usually only if it is part of an event. My Evo isn't even driven much on the street. It is primarily used for road course racing and autox'ing.

Eli.....get an extra set of shims from Mitsu....you have to set the gear lash correctly. When I installed mine I noticed the LSD was a bit looser than the stock open diff. A few thousands of movement can mean a lot.

I am curious if you are a little too low on your suspension causing the stub axles to bind slightly inside the diff when you launch. Just a hunch.

If you need an open diff to keep the car on the road...I have one sitting in a box in my attic.

Something else has to be causing this type of failure.
This is just way to uncommon.

Subscribed. I'm curious as to the post in reference to having a lower suspension. If I'm currently running 25mm spacers on the front could this be doing more harm than good? I now have the Quaife LSD on my to-buy list once I return from Iraq.
