1000 miles and my evo is in the dealer with them reporting they found a ton of metal in the trans oil and casing...my question is what now on a car a week old......what would you want Mitsubishi to do? It has had very light use and I have been babying the thing....obviously a fault from new
Drives: A little red Neon. I also have a Lancer that presumably still rolls...but doesn't drive.
Points: 31,049, Level: 100
Daily Activity: 2.4%
Probably a manufacturing defect. Some people get all the luck, eh? Sorry to hear that.

"Hi. As you can see I'm a bear. I contain no artificial flavors and no artificial colors. Now you may be thinking, "Oh, he's such a cute little bear," but let me tell you I am hard. Really hard. Deep down, I am still a bear. An animal born to raise hell. If I saw a dinosaur right now I'd rip his head off."
It's actually really funny on the rare occasions you do feel the need to regulate. The response you get is like the equivalent of a high school auditorium all shutting the **** up and staring at the stage for a good 15 minutes. It's quite an impact.
I thought I was the only one! Dealer said Mitsu has never heard of bad trans in evo. Mine only had 380 miles when it started whining. I hadn't thought that the front diff might share the same oil and shavings. They want to just replace the bearings.

Originally posted by limey This could br the tip of the iceburg....there was another member on here complaining of a diff noise maybe ....my noise started around 500 miles
That was me with the diff noise. I get it when downshifting at higher RPMS. A grinding noise almost. But only when I let up off the gas Winding down from say 6k to 3k it makes a loud grinding noise then stops after 3k back down to 0.
