GT3071 vs. GT3076???
i am in the market for a new turbo kit. i live in a high elevation area, which is the reason i am looking at these two kits. the other turbo im looking at is the 20g, but i will probably start a new thread depending on how this turns out. my questions are:
1) how much power would both turbos make on 91oct and alky?
2) which is the better turbo or more valuable turbo?
the reason i am asking everyone for their opinions is the fact that after researching the 3076, i found most people do not recommend it and say its a waste. i was wondering if the 3071 can make as much power but spool faster.

a 3076R would make more power on pump gas but be lagier for sure. It flows 52 Pounds, the 3071R flows less then a 50Trim which flows 49 Pounds.
Get a GT3076R, it will make over 50WHO MORE on race gas for certain, it is a 500WHP turbo on race gas, maybe more.

i will probably never use race gas, which is why im looking for the best set up for pump and alky, do you think the 3076 would make more power than 3071 on pump and alky?

Absolutely, the 3076R can hold 30PSI, the 71 maybe 27-28PSI.

the reason i ask is because most people say the turbo is a waste and even at 30psi, it will probably make 475whp at most. how much can it make on pump and alky say 26-28psi, not sure if 30psi will be possible on pump and alky. i thought it would be best to ask on the forum and get opinions from people that have it or had experience with it.
any idea what kind of spool up difference there is between this and the 35r? alot of people say it is almost the same, im just wondering how close it is? to give you an idea, a local person has the 3076 from AMS and he says he gets full boost at 4450 or so rpm at this elevation in 3rd gear.

A 3076R should spoll faster then that. That is what a GT35R spools at.
IMHO the GT3071R is almost a waste. It is smalled then a 50Trim and is a waste based on cost although it is PERFECT for a pump gas only car and will net ya over 400WHP but not much more on race gas. The 3076R will make 500WHP The 35R 650WHP!!!!!!!!!
The GTgo76R flows 52 pounds, the 35R 62pounds, HUGE difference, HUGE. The 35R is kinda laggy but then again having 10PSI on that thing is like 15-18 on the stock unit. It is a HUGE turbo.

the reason the 3076 spools late is because i live in an area that is over 6000ft above sea level. this is why i think i should stay away from the 35r, at one point i considered using a 50shot of nos for spool from standstill races with the 35r. so now im looking at the next best choice for pump and alky at my elevation. like i stated before, i will never use race gas.

Does any one have dyno graphs with both these turbos on a 2.3 stroker? I’m a road course and cone attacker so I was thinking a 2.3 with 3071 would be a great setup, but I can’t decide between it and a 3076. I’m looking for 400-420 hp on 93 pump gas, but with a lot of torque down low. Are these numbers possible with a 3071 and 2.3? Help.
Thanks

If you go with a map set up you will easily be able to make your 400 -420. the 3076 on a 2.3 should get it's first pound of boost at at around 2100 rpm and full boost at about 3300 rpm.
Find GT40. He's got a 4g64 (2.4) with this set up and an AEM EMS. He posts a lot on Socal Evo.
A 3071 might run out of steam up top.

gt3076r no contest holds boost longer up top and will generate more whp
i belive bbars evo ran 505hp on a rnr gt3076 kit with 1000cc injectors AEM ems and ignition upgrades on c16 only reason for gt3071 would be track apps for slightly faster spool but if you gonna stroke stay with 76r with .63ar hot and cold sides

If you're talking pump gas only (no alchy), the 3071 will be the better choice. It will be more power and be more responsive. But if a strong race gas map (or pump w/ alchy) is important to you, the 3071 can't compare to the 3076 which can make 500whp on a Dynojet running race gas. The 3071, by comparison, would come up short by at least 30-40whp. Still good and may be a worthwhile compromise to those who don't mind sacrificing top end power for boost response.
