The 3071, by comparison, would come up short by at least 30-40whp. Still good and may be a worthwhile compromise to those who don't mind sacrificing top end power for boost response.

I also have been thinking about which set up to run? I'm in the buisness of making my Evo the fastes AutoXing machine i can. With a lot of stop and go's, 90 degree turns and such, i'm thinking the 3071 is the better turbo in my case. hope i'm right!

You should stay with the stock turbo from what your describing. There is eleven second power in the stock turbo and quicker spool than anything you will find in the aftermarket.

Thats BS! Stock turbo spools slow. Ive seen 3071's Spool as fast or faster depending on what supporting mods are in the car. RNR's 50 Trim Turbo spools faster!

50trim ball bearing > GT3071/76 IMO, Unless you want BIG power like the GT35r gives then go with a 50trim ball bearing instead

3076R man, like I told you before you cleary state you will be usking alky. If you are using alky and running 25+ psi the 3076 is a much better turbo. If not using aky go 3071 that simple. I have not added my alky yet, but my car is beast on my race gas map and I know it will be similar on alky. I agree with couple other people that the 3071 is almost a waste of money for what you gain over the stock turbo. I still think the stroker and 3076 would be a sweet combo, especially on alky.

the 50trim ball bearing turbo will spool about as fast as a GT3071r but make a considerable amount of more power, let's just say its a cross between a 3071 and a 3076 with power and spool. It's one of the best daily driver turbo's out there. Read this thread about RnR, lots of good info with RnR replying to questions about the 3 different turbos (50trim/3071/3076) RnR 50trim w/equal length $2495

I would suggest the 3076 over the 3071 as a better choice for power with only a minimal amount more lag.

The 50 trim is a really good street turbo if you're going to run just pump. If you're going to get a 3071, get a 50 trim. You wont be dissapointed. I had the 50 trim and i loved it, but as it normally goes, i want more power. So that's why my AMS 35r kit is on it's way

No offesnse, I wouldnt pick either of those turbo's. For one, if you want something that has response and spool-up, you should either keep the stock turbo or just get a BR 20G b/c if you go with the GT3071R, you will be paying 4 grand for about a 30whp imporovement since you need a whole kit to run it (t3 manifold/header, external WG, custom O2 housing, etc.). You might as well save some money and get a BR 20G that will make the same improvement in power but cost a lot less since it bolts up to the factory exhaust manifold. As for the GT3076R, I personally REALLY think this turbo is obsolete. I mean, its just about as laggy as a GT35R but it flows much, much less. I think the better choice instead of a GT3076R would be an FP3065 which Buschur also sells. It has a GT3076R turbine wheel in a custom FP turbine housing and a GT35R compressor so you get improved spool-up, shift recovery, and transient response compared to a GT35R but at the same time make 100whp over a GT3076R. Just my 2 cents.

i disagree that the 30R is obsolete. I've run the gt35R vs the gt30R back to back in my setup, and while on paper my particular 600hp rated gt30R only outspooled the 35R by 500+ rpm, the transient response is night and day difference. a smaller trim gt30R (the ones most people buy) would have even better spool.

The difference between my 30R and 35R on pump gas was only 14 whp, but i gained 30 wtq, and the drivability of the car is far better. The 35R has its place for drag racing and freeway blasts, but on a DD a 30R is much more balanced.
