You have an Evo8, so no I wouldn't get aftermarket cams. All it does is change your power curve, so if you want more mid range, you can change it like that. I have a buddy who got them for his Evo8 and he eventually found his sweetspot at 0 setting.

Are you trying to say that adding cams to an Evo8 won't gain power, just shift it? I gained 30whp up top and 45whp in my mid range when I added BC 272's and retuned (stock 8 turbo with 9.8 hotside). If anything, I would say not to get cams if you have an Evo9 with the proper Mivec tuning.

good info. no more questions need to be asked, if everyone will just read the thread. 11pgs isn't THAT MUCH.
:glenn:
i'll be installing cams soon. i WILL be bleeding the lifters. as for filling them with diesel fuel???? i don't see how that is any better than leaving oil in them.
so.. i'll be bleeding.. then doing the 3k rev thing. then crossing my fingers. LOL

I just fill them and rinse them with diesel fuel until only clean diesel fuel comes out of them without any oil residue. Then I fill and drain them a few times with fresh motor oil. I drain them so there is only a coating of oil in them, then install and do the 3k RPM trick. Worked every time for me (done six Evo cam installs so far).

Its not necessary to bleed lifters in order to install cams.

The whole premise of the thread started back in 2005 indicating that it was mandatory to bleed lifters in order to have a successful install.
This is not the case. Its not directed at anyone recently, however it is overdue to put that misnomer to bed.

So how about when changing cams, springs and retainers as well? Is it a good idea to bleed the lifters then?
I want to upgrade cams very soon from my stock IX ones. Is it a good idea to upgrade springs, retainers, and headstuds at the same time when doing cams?? And how about cam gears, and timing belt etc?
