Evo 8 GSR Built 2.0L 6266 GSC S3 CBRE Head E85 | 565WHP | 10.8 @ 138.16

Did a few pulls yesterday in the extreme heat, I believe it was around 90F at the time of the pull then Nate took the car to his local track to see what it had in it later that next day after the sun went down.

There's a bit more in this car of course, but this displays the capability of the setup at the track.

This car weights 3304lb with driver. 3120lb without.

These runs were done on 225/40/18 street tires. Not optimal at all for drag conditions.

Mods are:

Built 2.0L (JE 10:1, Manley turbo tuff i-beam rods)
Curt Brown Ported Cyl Head
Curt Brown Ported Intake mani & 65mm Throttle Body
Maperformance 6266 T3 .82 Turbokit
Buschur Race FMIC
Strictly Modified Short Route Piping
Grimmspeed 3 Port
Spoolin Up COP
Buschur Double Pumper
FIC 2150cc
Tephra v7 SD /w ecuboost

Slips & Graph below: ( I think there's some videos, ill get them later.) (The higher you rev the car out, the more power it will make, so use your imagination. Logs cut at 7968RPM)

For what its worth, a 138 trap speed with a 3300lb car would require about 670WHP on a newer style eddy current load controlled dynojet.

I would say his car is right around 695ish hp given the weight and trap speed.

565hp would only be around 128-130...

I know this is an apples to potatoes comparison, but I ran 7.1@106 with 570 whp real dynojet in the 1/8.

It happened on a 1/8 drag strip after he won 6 races in a row at some event.

spinning bearings is usually from getting oil contaminated, lack of bearing lubrication, or improper bearing clearances. This one was most likely from lack of bearing lubrication, or could have gotten dirt in it at one point or another that scratched the bearing surface and it slowly got worse.

This car had a regular stock pan no baffling, and it happened on slicks.

The owner thinks the oil pickup sucked up air on the launch since it happened at a 1/8 track after about 6-7 passes in a row.

It spun a bearing, but its repairable. Worst case scenario it needs a new rod and a new crank.

Out of over 1000 evos i've tuned id say i can count maybe 6 or 7 that spun bearings. So its definitely not common, and 99% of the time its on a built engine.

And yours spun on 2-3 separate occasions Jack, so you know all about a spun bearing. Which has to be the worst luck in the world.

Id say it was that or at one point or another dirt got in between the bearing and crank journal and worn overtime.

I am not even racing my silver car until i put my baffled pan on though.

Id like to see what all his rod bearings look like.

I always run over filled at the track too! Launches are hard on the oil pick up.

I have a lot of customers that don't have baffled pans. One of them being you wwcagedevo8.

Sleeperisah doesn't either. I dont think the yellow evo does either (I told him to do it asap though. He may have done it by now. He cuts 1.4 60ft's). Its been tested and logged though, and oil pressure gets very dangerous on a hard launch with a stock pan and stock evo oiling system in general.

For $150 you can send a pan into Buschur to get modified. Worth every penny IMO. It is identical to what JUN does and charges much more $.

As much as I hate removing a oil pan and resealing it, as i said i wont race my silver car until I swap pans. So yes its very important and should not be overlooked.

==============

Looking at the rom also we had the rev limiter set to 9200RPM~ and the ECU will allow you to go right past 9500 usually. The car had ARP 2000 rod bolts. For reving high you need 625+. Then to make it worse most don't stretch the bolts they just tq them down. so who knows.

What happens when rod bolts stretch? your clearances open up to much and you spin a bearing.

Not saying that's what happened here, but it could be a lot of things. But first thing Id address is the pan and then the bolts for the rebuild. Then after that it should not have anymore issues as long as engine is kept dirt free on reassembly and no contaminants in the oil.
