Built 2.0L BR FS635 Turbo Cosworth 272 E85 | 11.1 @ 136 (Utah elevation)
My customer attended the final drag race event for 2013 at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Utah on Saturday with his evo 9, and even with a semi slipping clutch, still managed a 136mph trap speed at 4200ft above sea level. A 136mph trap at this elevation level is around a 143-145 car at sea level.
This makes his car the 2nd fastest Evo in Utah for 2013.
Heres is the pass on video thanks to someone there that randomly got it on video for us
It should have ran a 10 but between the clutch and the traction issues that was not possible.
About the setup:
Fuel: E85
ECU: Tephra v7 MAF
Engine
built 2.0L
Manley 10.5:1 pistons
Manley turbo tuff rods
O ringed block
lightly ported head
supertech dual valve springs and retainers
cosworth 272 M2 cams
ARP main rod and head studs.
Trans
Jack's built transmission stock gearing. (Evo IX 5 spd)
quartermaster twin disc clutch.
Turbo
Buschur FS 635 cast manifold kit
full buschur exhaust
Buschur Intake and intercooler piping
AMS intercooler
forge rs blow off valve
hallman MBC
ported stock intake manifold.
ams small battery kit.
Fuel
walbro 450
fic 1350cc injectors
ams fuel rail
aeromotive fuel pressure regulator

Ya I will ask for pictures from the owner. Ya we are happy! theres more in the car. it should have a 140+ in it.
Yes im pretty sure. I just posted a video of a pass where he blew a IC pipe. He did not get the 136 pass on video. Although i'm sure someone has it that was there filming.

Tom is awesome, got me in super short notice before the last drag event of the year. The car drives better than ever and is much faster. I need to get the clutch figured out in the next couple weeks so we can really see how much more power its making.
Here is a video I found of my fastest run, I did not shift to 5th on these runs just 9000+ rpm in 4th. My first pass was the fastest and I havn't had the car on a dragstrip in well over a year so I was very happy with the results. Just wanted that 10 sec. slip.

So with that taken into consideration this car is pretty impressive to me. Im not sure what boost pressure he was running at the track though. it was certainly more than 32psi.

Being in Utah and having been to various events in other areas, its not real clear on how fast a car will be at sea level. If the turbo is running along at max shaft speed, yeah, you will see a huge gain in power and trap speeds as the turbo is choked out up here and you will pick up a ton more boost at sea level running the turbo to 100%.
Running at 90% capacity of the compressor but it still has flow left in it and the amount of power you gain at sea level on the same absolute manifold pressure will be VERY LITTLE.
136mph is going pretty well though and is good for 10.5s on that track with a mild 1.6 60' launch.

I'm guessing right around 36-38psi. I wasn't logging and my gauge will not read that high so I don't know for sure

Hopefully next year we can get him some 10 second passes. a 136 trap would be about 620whp dynojet at sea level in a full weight evo.
I dont know if his setup was choked bad or not, i'm gonna guess not to much.
Ok. I wish we could share a graph at that boost level, but honestly i rather share a trap speed then a graph anyways.
