FP3794 + EnglishRacing 2.4

So as you might have read in my update thread the car went to the dyno for its initial tune and to see what a 3794 was worth over the 86 and what it gave up. It is very interesting to see that the larger turbo in the same housing DID not lose down low compared to the 86 and only made more out the top at this initial dyno test.

Quick data-

Both turbos hit 21psi at 4200 on the street and the dyno

Full target boost was at 5600 both turbos (38+psi)

WGDC to achieve this boost went from 65% to 52% from the 86 to the 94

43.5psi base pressure + Store bought E85 was 95% IDC at 831whp (scale of 100%+) with the Magnafuel 625 and -6 lines

3794 made tremendously more torque at 6200-6500 than the 86

Here is what happens when you try dynoing this level in 3rd instead of 4th (even with the load control adding in)-

No changes between the 2 other than the 766 was in 3rd, the 831 was 4th.

Length of time of the pulls in comparison to each other is 6.1 seconds start to finish for the 3rd and 9.1 for the 4th gear pull. For those that doubted Dave's car, this is a prime example of how proper loading on the dyno is essential for making the car do what its supposed to. Its not an automatic function, it requires some common sense and operator skill. I really see now how my 86 numbers were probably lower than they should have been 746whp@32psi since the load wasnt there and the car ripped through it too fast. Dave's 725 mustang (forgive me if I misreported it) number is very believable in my opinion at 32psi. All it takes is the proper load on the car and length of pull to get the best data possible.

I want to make sure that I thank everyone involved (sponsors first)-

Jens at FIC for "looking into" getting the 2150s even though he wasnt sure how many he might sell.

Greg for his continued dedication to motorsport, development, and being there to bounce ideas off (and cams/rods).

JR at ETS for building bada$$ intercoolers, exhaust, and turbo kits, also for being a willing ear.

Luke, Jeff, TJ, and Jake for putting up with me and also letting me bounce ideas off of them.

You're only as good as those you surround yourself with so I am doing pretty good. Thanks guys

Aaron

Nice arron. I'm very happy for you on your goal..I remember you telling me that you wanted the 800 whp and you wouldn't be happy until you hit 800 whp. Now your over 31 whp and plenty left in her if you can get some more fuel..Maybe I might buy it now at this level.

Thanks for sharing. I an intrested to see the final numbers and your impression of the two turbos.

Any chance for an overlay of the 86 vs 94?

So you think that the 86 would have made more than the 798whp?

I see the dyno but it doesnt correlate with our testing at all on the 3794.. different motors and completely different cars but how would a 3794 spool 1000rpm sooner on EXACTLY the same car i dont understand.. I dont think Robert would ever suggest the 94 could spool 800-1000 rpm sooner.. any ideas on how this?? With what i am seeing the HTA 86 is extinct if its right.. slower spooling and less power who wants that..

Not a 1000 rpm sooner, just not slower. I can and did feel that on the street, this is an example of combo sometimes coming together and sometimes not. I didnt lose spool but I didnt gain as much power as I thought.

I will get the 794whp 3586 log and graph up overlaying....though it is a 3rd gear so its not exactly fair from what I saw on tuesday.

Its late in FL.. I misread the 2 pulls on the same sheet as overlays.. Even though i read it all 2x.. I dont know how physically the 94 can spool the SAME as an 86.. post an overlay when you can.. Im interested to see it.. Thanks!!

If thats the case then theoretically wouldn't it mean that same combo could spool an 86 even faster?

It's probably safe to say you're not maxing the turbo out yet and you're making 200 lb/ft at THIRTY-FIVE-HUNDRED RPM's and 630 lb/ft at 6,400 RPM's holding 30+ PSI past 8,000 RPM's.

Jesus Christ--that is one nasty 2.4 you built, Aaron!

Give her MOAR
