518whp / 509wtq - CBRD BBK-B

This car was one of the testers for the beta BBK-XL. I've posted a couple threads about it before on here.

Now it has the final production version of the BBK-XL, the BBK-B.

Results where surprising.

2006 Evo GSR

Modifications:

GST 2.3L stroker
Oversized valves in head (no head porting)
3" Downpipe
3" Agency Power catback
RRE rally cat (resonated test pipe)
Titek V2 tubular 02 housing
Ported stock exhaust manifold
CBRD BBK-B turbo
GST open cone air filter
Perrin FMIC
AMS LICP
Synapse BOV
Cosworth M2 mivec cams
FIC "BlueMax" 1550cc injectors
AEM fuel Rail
AMS fuel return line
Denso IKH24 spark plugs (1 heat range colder)
BlaqOps Progressive double pumper system
GM 3 port boost solenoid using ECU-controlled boost
Stock ECU (Tephra V7 ROM)
Stock MAF
Stock Intake Manifold
Stock Upper IC pipes

E85

33-34psi peak, 30psi out the top

I decided to overlay both 3rd and 4th gear pulls to show the difference a gear makes in spool up, and because of that, the torque and area under the curve differences. Obviously after seeing this, you should always ask what gear a particular posted dyno chart was made in.

On this particular car, at 4300rpm, there was a 100 wtq difference between the gears. That nice 2.3L breathing much better with more exhaust gases to the turbo with earlier spool in 4th.

518 whp / 509 wtq in 4th gear

510 whp / 464 wtq in 3rd gear

Can you overlay the BBK Full chart with 3rd gear on the BBK-B. Those are some sick numbers considering you are on a Mustang dyno. I'm just trying to see how much spool changes between the two.

I wouldn't compare the HKS to this turbo at all. Very different turbos imo.

Why the numbers appear to be similar - BBK-B and HKS...And seem similar to FP HTA Green as well.

I think you guys are confusing the BBK Full with the BBK-B. Either that or you guys are forgetting the big difference between a Mustang and Dynojet.

HKS Turbo made 430whp on a dynojet on 93oct. BBK-B made 460whp on a Mustang dyno on 93oct. Even with a very conservative correction factor that is easily over 500whp on a Dynojet. Big difference don't you think?

There is no similarity as far as spool or top end goes. HKS spools much earlier than BBK-B, but it does not produce the same power and dies earlier.

awesome numbers Bryan! I'm glad you were able to finally tune our production version after a very anticipated release!

On our Mustang Dyno we were more than happy with the BBK-B results after the time we spent developing it. After achieving 457whp on a stock block pump gas car I was excited to emphasize the old phrase "good things come to those who wait".

There are some nice options in the stock housing market now, I think this slots in as another great solution for our clientel!

cheers
