AWD Motorsports EVO 8.5.. " The Bastard " makes 523whp/523Tq on BBK Turbo!!!!

Well we finally got a chance to put our bastardized Evo 8.5 on the dyno tonight.. Ill explain what we have going on in our 2005 Evo.. We have a 4g64 2.4L Mivec motor.. The car is composed of parts from all over the shop, new and used.. Below is a list of basic mods.. The power was made at 30psi... I believe this is the highest BBK so far..

4g64 Engine w/ Evo IX head..
Cosworth Cams
CBRD BBK Full Turbo @ 30psi
Buschur Double Pumper w/ 1200cc Injectors
E85 pump Fuel
Buschur Ported Intake Manifold & TB
Buschur Ported Exhaust Manifold
Stock 02 Housing
DC Sports Downpipe / Test Pipe
AWD Mini Battery Kit
AWD UICP & LICP
Stock fuel Rail
Stock Ignition
Stock Ecu w/ MAF Tuned By: Diiirk

Mike, why is the torque hitting so late on this setup? I would have expected a 2.4 Mivec setup to make full torque around 3600-3800rpms on the BBK full. Other then that good power.

Im not sure to be honest.. Remember this combination of parts we have here is not IDEAL.. I dont have anything to compare it to say its late or early.. more boost might bring in tq sooner.. Its got 400+ by 4k..

Mike nice power Looks pretty similar to what Johnny's did on a Black. The MIVEC and 2.4 really seem to make good torque and do it early but I think alot of it is the boost level they get run at it takes xx amount of time to achieve. It makes killer torque on the whip though, I am wondering maybe a pull from a little lower? Maybe 2400 or so just to see the full powerband? Luke and I mix it up that way now just to get a real feel for things like passing power and consistent graphs.

congrats

congrats

The preload on the wastegate is not adjusted for one. Also the tuning is not 100% as yet. Have not played with Mivec etc. Just made a couple quick pulls to see where it was at.

Just curious as to what makes this setup not so ideal? The only thing that is really jumping out at me is the stock O2 housing...

That would certainly explain it.

Im still amazed at how well the car turned out. We strapped it on the dyno saying, its either going to blow up first pull, or its going to make some good power. I didnt expect these numbers though. The funny thing was, during the whole dyno session the tq was following the hp all the way up to 523. When the car was at 440 at 22 psi, the tq was 440. at 480hp, it was 480tq. at 500hp, it was 500tq. I think this 2.4 mivec combo is going to work very well, im anxious to see what this car will do on the bigger turbos....

as crispeed mentioned, this car is in no way fully tuned. i think we made a total of 11 pulls. The first pull on 22 psi on 12* of timing made 440. I didnt even touch the timing map until the last 2 pulls, just upping boost 1-2 psi at a time and keeping fuel in check. It will go back on and get a real tune, i expect things to change quite a bit.

02 Housing, Actuator, Fuel Rail, stock MAF.. I prefer the speed density setup for drivability.. Just not my ideal setup but its working well for what it is..

Thanks for the quick response. I didnt realize the stock fuel rail would have an effect at this power level although it is corn fed so I guess that may change things. I'm definitely interested to see how this car ends up after some perfection in the tune. Also I wonder if a change in wastegate actuators will help flatten out the torque? I know its running 30psi however what is it actually holding by redline?
