There are a lot of misnomers in the evo world. One of which evidently is the NEED for a coil on plug system in order to make power. Interestly enough our testing surprised us when the COP would misfire and the stock coils fixed everything.
You don't always get the results one would expect, which is what makes this job so interesting. We get to the truth regardless if shop X, Y, or Z claims part ABC is the reason why they can ignite 50psi of boost.
What we find is many people NEVER EVEN TRY and upgrade before needed or upgrade when not needed at all!
If I had a dollar for every time someone came in here wanting to add larger fuel injectors to their stock turbo Evo, I would be rich!
Some **** is just not necessary. I think people run out of things to buy for their car and just buy random stuff after a while.

Guilty as charged. I guess I do it more for the fun of it rather than trying to be the fastest thing around. No matter how hard you try someone is going to come around and clean your clock, so I quit trying. I do it for the hobby and fun of it.
Good for shops like you, us people buying random crap.

That is the jist of it. Vendors have a Jekyll and Hyde thing going on. They need parts to sell and at the same time they want to be able to prove they make power. Its not always the case.

Are you running the latest V7 SD rom?
Also, how much boost on the pull?

Yes with BigMaps. It is most excellent and the safest rom yet for big power cars. The stock small maps have so little resolution that you cannot set up a 50psi boost car and expect 20psi, 30psi, 40psi and 50psi to all be able to run their own distinct timing and fueling tables.
The new mapping is ridiculous. You can literally change fueling and timing every 250rpms in most of the rpm range.
Since we are using our TTP G.A. Race engine we have setup our mapping to accept 10,500rpms of resolution and up to 55psi of boost.
We have run as high as 50.3psi of boost in 4th gear. As safe and reliable as could be with V7 and our tuning on the 5bar Zeitronix MAP sensor.
I will tell you, setup is a motherbeiotch on the 5 bar sensor. I cannot begin to imagine how much of a pain in the ass it would be without a dyno so I do not have to look out the windshield and control the car while logging. Its time consuming, but when it is done, it runs great.
Another strange note is that the car sounds more Subaruish now like it has a boxerish engine. The only other car that I have heard sound like that is Ryu's even before his SD conversion. I am certain it has to do with the no MAF setup.

I agree w/ all that; I'm running the same ROM as well. The increased resolution is vital for the big boost guys and seems to help in the lower load areas from 0-100 for drivability

Awesome power! What kind of cams were used? I tried to skim through the posts but didn't see it.
