ive never yanked my oil pan off to inspect it all, but one would suspect modifying the oil pick up to sit closer to the bottom and/or slight design improvements over the stock pick up would be the easiest/cheapest method.

again, ive never really taken a look inside a stock evo oil pan to inspect it for possible improvements.

so quick question guys,
with the FP Black/Red with the wet sump setup, how will this mate back with the upgraded FP oil line kit?
Will additional modifications be necessary in this scenario???

The pan modifications they are discussing are internal to the pan. The oil line to the turbo is a separate part and unrelated.

In your testing have you noticed less aeration with certain brand oil? Thats good info to know as well.

I agree. Eventually someone will be running the the Black on pump. I was going to do this but I think I have a few more thing that I'm going to work out on my Red. I have a goal of 560hp at 30psi on my Red before I upgrade. I will hopefully hit this within a few weeks. Before I build my motor in the spring I will run Q16+meth on 40+psi to see what the Red does on my setup. If I'm lucky I will pop the bottomend I think that 500+ DJ with the Black on pump should be a real ease on a well modded car FP FTMFW
My IX is at BR right now waiting to have the black installed on a built BR 2.0. I'm on an AEM and will be tuned on 93 pump and C16. More to come on this.

So if i am reading correctly, the black causes an unsafe dip in engine oil pressure?

yes and with 640wtq, youre lucky to keep your skin still attached. Theres a few solutions to this that I gathered.

1. find someone to modify your stock oil pan to keep the oil surrounding the pickup
2. extend the length of the pickup so its further down into the pan
3. get the ams muroso oil pan

options 2 and 3 are more convenient. Option 1 seems to take 5-6hrs of custom fabrication and no one wants to do it.

It's not just the black. This isn't a by-product of this specific turbo. It's simply an issue that all really fast Evos will have.

seems ams is going to be picking up business on folks that go the fp black route. im not taking any chances ill await to see what solutions are discovered as i have alittle bit of time before i get all the parts but im not chancing my new motor to fate lol. ill spend another 580 for the pan i guess. But first i need to get that double pumper from mike.

has anyone tried the Moroso pan that was originally made to fit the 1st gen talons/eclipses? It uses the stock p/u location and tube, but I was wondering if it fits the evo8 w/out any modifications?

I am slightly confused because you state that all the exhaust gases flow through the DP with no dump but at the same time you have an external gate. So, do the WG gases merge back into the DP or test pipe? Is the Tial gate sourced at the manifold or the turbine housing?

So is your Black turbo setup in fact dual-gated? That is, does the turbine housing still retain the original integral wastegate but, in addition there is a second remote Tial gate as well?

EDIT: I read through the entire thread and in post #62 Robert answered my question. In this particular application, the Tial gate is in fact plumbed into the DP, so it is located downstream, after the turbo. But, is the Tial VTA or are vented gases routed back into the DP/exhaust at some point further downstream?
