BR, Apexi Power FC, great power.

EVERYTIME I tune a car with a Power FC, which isn't often enough, I am amazed at how well the computer works. Everytime I tune one I wish they'd add just a few other features to it so I could just use it in every car we build, no BS, it is one of the absolute best ECU's I ever get my hands on.

This week we had Chris's car in here. He wanted to swap to E85, double pumper and have the car tuned. We needed to upgrade the standard Power FC from the 3 bar unit to the HKS 4 bar. Ran into a snag and needed a connector, Sean Ivey sent us one overnight, thanks Sean.

It took me awhile to dial the car in and get it to run and rev but afte that it was on to the dyno and onto being impressed.

I don't know all the details on the car, although I should as it's mostly our parts.

Basic run down:

BR 2.3
BR deluxe FMIC
Shearer head kit with PTE6265 turbo
272 cams, not ours, not sure what they are
Head is cleaned up but not ported completely, springs/retainers upgraded
BR i/c pipes
BR 3" turbo back
BR manual boost controller
BR double pumper
Apexi Power FC ECU w/HKS 4 bar map sensor
PTE 1000 cc injectors
E85 from Giant Eagle

Well the car made exceptional power and to be honest, it's not nearly at it's potential yet. I ran the car up to 32 psi and then realized I was out of injector, AFR's were 12.0:1. The chart below is from that pull, you'll see how freaking smooth it is and how nice the power is. 20 psi of boost hit at 4500 rpm, pretty darn good. ALL runs were done in 3rd gear only.

I ended up turning the boost down to 28 psi to get the injectors back in line with where they should be and left the car at 11.5:1, it still made 499 whp like that.

When the budget allows Chris is going to bring the car back and we're going to put some bigger injectors in it. I'm pretty certain that with a larger injector and another hour on the dyno the car would put out well over 600 whp.

The power is great but the way the car runs/revs and makes power is what is really freaking great. The Power FC, while not popular, is one of the best ECU's out there.

Here's the dyno sheet:

Chris I have a couple sets of 1600's I'm trying to get rid of. You can have a set. Just have them gone through.

Like we discussed today when you were here, wait and do the ID2000's, they run SO good, it's night and day difference over the 1600's.

^ agreed, i just talked to Tony Palo @T1 today about them and they are pricey but IMO worth every penny. I've already experienced the ID1000cc on my old car and i can vouch for the ID as a company. Very reputable.

He explained to me the whole reasoning for not being able to use Q16 or VP race gas with the ID2000cc but it still leaves C16 and C23 along with E85 as an option for race fuel.
