That's some extensive port work. Talk about removing a ton of material.
After opening the ports on the head that much are there any drawbacks besides spool up? Can that cause structural issues with the head?
I'm looking forward to seeing what your custom head looks like. Let's see some pics!

I guess I'm not seeing the point as to why he needs to stiffen the head.
He'll have the best studs made to hold each cylinder secure, it's likely o-ringed, and he has copper beryllium seats.

Very nice work Spyros.....
By manipulating the floor and ceiling port velocity can be increased. Low end airflow speed will be affected but may not be as bad as you would think.

Raised ports always worked well for the Honda community.. I can see this being a good way to make these Evo cylinder heads flow well past 9K RPM without requiring crazy retarded big cams.
I bet there's going to be a lost of spool, but the RPM game is always losing a bit but gaining lots. Losing 500RPM of spool but earning 1000-1500RPM worth of redline + response easily makes up for it, and then have proper gearing to match.

we have been trying to massage the ports a little on the stock head to change the angle- but nothing this extreme-
probably would be easier to just have spyros send us one- but then we need to build a custom intake manifold- oh well..... thats been on the drawing board anyway LOL!

As you increase the cylinder pressure you need the cylinder head to be more rigid as well to help hold the gasket.

You can have the best head studs and the best o-rings, but if you're putting them in a wet noodle.... it'll be pretty hard for it to hold in a fart let alone 700whp worth of cylinder pressure.

So I am back again.
It’s the unofficial crank test, its time some companies get serius and don’t promise HP and Rpms just because they think nobody can push them at the limit.
We test them on the Dyno from 1000- 1500hp, on the balancer machine at 12000rpms. To be fair we use Combustion / Pressure analyzer to calculate the actual compression and combustion pressure in the cylinder as the strokes was diffent so as the piston at BTDC and TDC. Same pistons speed but diferent weight piston rod combos makes our test 5% inaccurate.
We knew from the start what would be as we wanted to test all the "off the shelf" 800-4000$ cost cranks. We test 12 cranks. Not survival as we think from the start.
We will show u the results but not the brand for eatch crank.

Not sure why you would keep this info confidential. I mean I guess it gives you an a edge as a company, but that would have been like AMS keeping the cam test confidential.
Too bad this test won't educate/benefit the community. Seems if you are going through all the trouble, time and money to test out cranks, you might as well share the info.
