Mellon Tuning Stock 9 turbo 335awhp/300tq 93 octane minimal boltons
Owner: Jim
Username: jimdavenport
Location: Columbia, TN
2006 EVO9 5-speed
93
25.5 psi
tbe hfc
This is a very clean EVO 9 with very basic mods but it made great power even in this weather: 94°F Feels Like 102°F 47% Humidity. We did multiple back to back pulls to purposely heat it up and make sure it's was virtually knock free. I think the highest we ever saw was a 2 count after many runs with no cool down time. The reason for this is that Jim is interested in doing some autox and road course action.
His next round of mods will include:
Walbro 255lph pump
Innovate LC-1 WB02 kit + serial/usb adapter cable for evoscan logging
FMIC 3.5-4.0"
GSC S1 cams (since he doesn't want to do springs/retainers)
Mellon Tune
That should put him in the upper 300's on 93 octane even in this nasty heat and make for one hell of a quick EVO on the road course/autox
Here are the results: DLL 25.5psi Mellon Tuning 335/300 was untuned 20psi 276/241...pretty good bang for the buck on the mods/tune. A stock EVO 9 with an air filter just did 245awhp and 228tq last night on the stock tune with the same DLL settings to give you a point of reference.

Yep, Chris did a heck of a job. Car pulls much stronger and that sharp drop in power at 6500 rpms is gone. Considering how blasted hot it was (and still is) I was very tickled with the way the car came around.
I'll take a look at the boost gauge during a hard accel and see what kind of taper it shows. The Hallman MBC seems rock solid repeatable.
All Mods:
TBE - Megan 3" DP, Perrin HFC 3", Tanabe Medallion Touring Cat-Back 3"
ETS LICP (Version 2)
ETS Intake
Hallman MBC
Fresh Denso Plugs and 25.5 PSI

yeah we had the wrong spring in it, and no boost gauge hooked up, so when you only run it at 12 13 psi its hard to see if you have any leaks or if it will hold!!!!

Yeah, we didn't get the boost gauge on last sat, so we just left the Hallman turned way out till I got the gauge on. I got it on Tuesday and after turning the Hallman till I was blue in the face, I only had 16 psi. checked on here and found out I needed to install that heavier spring, gee that worked better.
And the line that blew off on us what the small line from the intake mani to the fuel reg. why Mitsu didn't put barbed fittings on both ends of that connection is a mystery to me. Some zip ties in Mellons garage got that resolved.
