Stock 2 liter, pump gas+meth, Red

Had a car come in today for just a tune.

A wide variety of parts on the car. I will list all that I can remember:

2006 EVO9

BR 3" turbo back
custom i/c pipes
manual boost controller (not sure of brand, never seen one before)
Stock 2 liter
Stock head
GSC cams
FP red
SS 02 housing
Ported exhaust manifold
K&N filter kit
Walbro fuel pump
SMC alky kit
FIC 850 injectors
AEM EMS, 3.5 bar map sensor, air temp sensor
No wide band
ETS 3" FMIC

The car came out good, he was also running Valero "93" octane gasoline which is the worst fuel you can buy in the country.

The car was tuned at 29 psi of boost. It was in the mid 20's here today and I use no correction on the dyno.

438 whp and 372 ft lbs of torque

Here is the dyno sheet:

I'd have liked to have tuned the car on better fuel and also suggested a larger FMIC, other than that the car worked really well and I'm impressed with the power it made. The car is used primarily for road racing.

That is nice power on your dyno Dave . Pump/meth 30 psi and a red and go Low Low 11's all with a bolt on setup . That combo is hard to beat for amount of cash invested

Dave, any insight as to why peak torque is hitting so late in the rpm range? When was full boost achieved?

There was a problem with the boost controller on the car actually. The peak torque is where it finally hit 28 psi. The boost would not go lower and was slow to come up to that point.

That's what I thought. Thanks.

Worst gas in the country except for the Valero 91 California Gas. I defy anyone to find worse pump fuel than this **** fuel we are forced to use.

On topic, nice results again sir

Yes, sir, agreed 100%, Valero gas is the worst **** I have ever run in any car. It should be illegal to sell.

Car very closely resembles the parts list from my old setup. Although he made a few ponies more. I made like 427hp on CBRD's dyno. There was still some left on the table, Chad was telling me to lean the car out more. I'm not surprised at this setup of yours making almost identical power.

A 3in FMIC is not adequate for 430whp?
How big is big enough?

This is not a slam against ETS but no the 3" core is not big enough. A 3" core from anyone is not big enough. In most cases I prefer to not even sell our 3.5" core. The 4" core and 4.5" core we sell as our Race and BFIC cores are what I recommend in every case.

This particular car had AIT's starting at 42 degrees, air temp was very low today, this morning it was -5 degrees here. I had our dyno fan running on high like always and the AIT's still climbed to 80 degrees on a single gear pull.

This is a road race car, can you imagine what it would do on a road course in 80 degree weather.

It has nothing to do with who built the intercooler, it is simply not enough to provide sufficient cooling.

I can't get any more politically correct than that, so keep the thread clean.

Glad you answered the fmic problems. I was about to ask myself what you suggested. I don't think the numbers are to bad. Would really like to see how much more you could get out of it fixing the issues the car had (mbc, gas, fmic).
GSC S1's or S2's?

Also interested in knowing what itd run with better gas/mbc/ and fmic
And thanks for the heads up, because I was going to go with a 3 inch fmic
