Upgrading SSL Audio

O.k. guys, I need your help. I've been trying to read up on everything I can about upgrading my SSL's audio. However, I think the more I read, the more confused I'm getting.

The Infinity sub just isn't cutting it for me anymore, so I was trying to incorporate some audio equipment I have from my old 2GB Eclipse. (Amp, cap, and 2 12" Kicker Comp VR's). Also, I WOULD like to retain the stock headunit for now if at all possible. Note* "if at all possible". If this is a huge pain, then I can buy an aftermarket one. I just enjoy the simplicity of the stocker, and don't want the car to be more of a target for break-ins than what it already is.

So what are my options? Can I keep the stock amp powering the speakers and just add the amp for my subs? Should I tear everything out, and start from scratch? Thank you in advance for all input given.

I bought another amp which is better than stock. Ran a new power line all the way to the trunk and its a little better. Anything is better than stock.

Did you replace the Infinity 8" with anything? I heard people are getting a shallow-mount sub and using that, but it's been getting mixed reviews. I'm trying to utilize things that I have sitting in my garage. Thanks for the input though! You are correct, anything is better than stock.

More input people!!!!
