Radio cuts out with high volume
I have an alpine iva d300 dvd player installed in my car , the place that installed it is no longer in business so i'm stuck. The radio basically turns off when the music gets remotely loud so what could the problem be??

Is there an amplifier? If not, what speakers is the HU driving? If I understood correctly, the HU, itself, turn off. Does it lose power or does the sound cut out?

The hu turns off like it is turned off no lights no sounds etc. and then it turns back on in about 2 seconds, their is an amplifier but the alpine has a brain that was spliced into my factory amplifier, my evo was the ssl edition with the upgraded audio system.
speakers are w/e came with the 06 ssl evo i think jl?

When I run into cases like these, Usually it's the amplifier that is causing everything to shut off when it gets loud. Has this just been happening recently? And when you say there is an amplifier is there an aftermarket one or just the stock one? Or both?

Theres your problem. When they integrated with stock amp with your iva d300, a speaker was wired out of phase.
Thus, when you turn up the radio, the radio is seeing a bunch of distortion, and thus shuts off..
Did they cut into the original harness, or simply use an adapter? Like the Soundgate MITS AMP??

Also, if you haven't already done so, be sure to disable the internal amp on the Alpine. If the amp is on and doesn't have speakers attached to it, it will overheat, which could be another possible reason for the problem.
