Whistler xtr-695 has not failed me yet. has really good reviews and is not that expensive at about $140. Also it has this cool feature that tells you exactly the frequency of the Ka band so you always know exactly if it is a police radar or something else.

V1 is in my opinion the best detector out there. It lets you know where the possible threat is and how many. Once you have that, no other radar detector you'll use lives up to that. When I did have a problem they fixed it a no charge. If I have one gripe with it there is no auto mute like the passport. You have to manually mute it every time.

The cobra XRS-9745 is my choice... A radar detector is a radar detector. Me and a buddy put his V1 in my car along with my radar detector and they both worked the same. So far mine has picked up every single cop well in advance

I have the Cobra XRS and it has saved me a lot of time too. I would probably try the V1 once my Cobra stop working

Escort 8500 X50 has served me well and they are much cheaper than a V1.
