I'm also not a hater of the V1. The Escort also has a "bogey counter" so that feature is moot. As far as the arrows - I won't argue that there are times when it would be nice to know which direction the signal is coming from but that doesn't keep me from ensuring my speed is in check. Just like I'm sure you don't first check the direction before you ensure your speed is in check.

To summarize - the directional arrows are a feature that I would happily take but I would rather have a GPS enabled detector with the associated features, and all the DB downloads of the 9500ix. Since I can't have both I lean toward the Escort. Price is of no concern since any detector pretty much pays for itself in 1 or 2 saves, and as stated, the good ones are all over $300.

i have the Passport 9500ix.....i love it...the whole GPS tracking is badass....and it covers the new Ku Band if it makes its way to the USA....but all in all I think its the best...no false alarms...plus you can plug it into your stereo that way your sure to hear it when you are at speed.

and i have been hit by Ku a couple of times in Texas....

I have a Passport 8500 x50 with the lazer shifter. I just got back from a 6000 mile road trip and it has saved me at least 4 times!

Nice! I've always thought about going that route but haven't had the need yet (I don't go on long trips in the Evo usually). I've seen the shifter in action and it is pretty sweet!

V1 is what I have, passport 8500 is just as good. Both are leaps and bounds beyond any other detector on the market.

I got the Escort 8500 x50 about a month ago and it is great. I have 0 complaints. It does have some false alarm pickup but rather be safe than sorry.......really sorry.
