Didnt want to start a whos better war I looked into the 9500ix and yes looked better but looking all over the place to find the signal didnt please me, I have used for 1 hr now, just trying to find out best place to install it, should i get the concealed unit? or just keep the main unit? im thinking of hardwiring it right next to the rear view mirror.

I have mine at the top of the windshield, just left of the rear view mirror. I took the flat (telephone type wiring) up, under the headliner edge (just gently tuck it up there), from there, ran left, down the A piller (take off the a pillar for this... real easy) and it will drop straight down into the foot well. From there... um... I got lazy and ran it straight to the cig lighter and plugged it in. You can easily use an add-a-fuse or tap the cig lighter, but I got lazy when i first put it in and I don't smoke and realized that it doesn't bother me at all that it's using the cig lighter.
Good purchase! V1 is absolutely fantastic and has proven to me to be very VERY accurate and effective. I caught myself numerous times unmarked cop hunting in traffic
wait... forward arrow? so he's up there somewhere ... oh now it's rear arrow.. I passed him... ok a little more... NOW it's side arrow ... Turn head and wave

Ok hardwired it too the dome light looks clean but it takes a while to shutoff i guess the dome light stays on for like 10 mins??? well the good thing as soon as you hit the remote to unlock the doors the V1 is already on so you dont hear the ops check it does when started.

My setup is similar to lords3t. I ran the cable down the passenger side, then under the dash, passing it over some ducts & what not to keep it off the passenger's feet. From there it goes into the center console to get power from the cigarette lighter wires. One of the nice things about the V1 is the cable is standard telephone cable. If the cables that come with it aren't long enough you can go to the store and buy the crimpers, connectors, and spool of cable needed to make whatever length you need.
I have the remote display, which came with a junction box to connect the remote display and the main unit. I mounted the junction box inside the center console, and used connectors designed to crimp onto existing wiring in order to tap into the cigarette lighter wiring without cutting it.
I can't remember anymore when I bought my V1 - it was probably 1993. I know I had it in my Eclipse before the Evo. The V1 is a quality unit.

I've pretty much given up running my V1 in Virginia. I've known about the Spectre 3 (radar detector detector) for awhile and have even been caught with it. The V1 has nothing to combat the Spectre, only the Bel STI does. Even if I got the Bel I'd still have trouble though. Half the cops in Va don't leave their radar on, they wait until they see a fast car then shoot. I'm too worried about the Spectre so I just drive 5-9 over unless the flow of traffic is faster. Guess that's a good thing though, been ticket free for awhile.
