ima be honest i looked at alpine, kenwood, and many others, and the one i decided to get is the DUAL yes its not the most expensive it does the job, it was $198 at walmart and it's been working for years now, it was in my lancer es and is now in my evo, Dual made a new one that even has navi and bluetooth and u can get it on ebay for around $300. I did not spend like 800 on a alpine or more just because of the name brand, and Jensen also makes some great stuff for good prices. Unless you have $$ to spend on the alpine or another name brand, the dual or jensen will do just fine, hell the jensen even has a Tv Tuner with free antenna. dual even came with ipod interface so u leave the ipod in the glove box and control it from the screen.

yea i think i no the one your talking bout from Dual at walmart. the only thing that turned me away from that was i couldnt tell if you could update the maps. thats one thing im looking for if possible. hopefully the ones that you can update wont be crazy expensive. I think the newer panasonic edition allow you to do this but not sure gonna check them out. Thanks

also does anyone know where or if its possible to have a 3.5" screen in dash. i know the a/c controls are there but is there a faceplate to put a screen in that size. i would prefer NOT to have the headunits that slide out.

If you don't want a flipout but want a screen I would suggest either getting a separate headrest screen and mounting it somewhere and having a regular deck in the stock location.

JVC makes an indash headunit with built in nav and harddrive... KD-NX5000, they also make an indash headunit with dvd but I can't find the model #.

Panasonic is out of car audio.... they haven't made a navigation piece in over 2 years... I doubt you'll find what you're looking for there... it seems a lot of car audio companies are getting out of the 12 volt industry...

I've got an alpine iva-x100 in the stock cd changer location (or cubby hole - depending on your model) and I fiberglassed an alpine 7" touchscreen with bluetooth in the stock headunit location above the climate control.

Here's a link to my setup: Custom Audio: Radio Bezel Project

If you are willing to do the custom work I would fit a double din in the dash and relocate the climate control if I were you... if I was to do my setup again I would get a double din headunit and move my climate control down to the cubby hole.

Hope this helps,

Nick
