Remote starter

Anyone running a remote starter on their Evo? I'm thinking of getting one installed before winter hits (IL), so I can have the car toasty, and engine warm before I hop in in the mornings.

My biggest concern is reliability. Obviously, I don't want to be fiddling with a bunk starter on a sub-zero morning with the car covered in snow.

I'm looking at the Viper 5301, it appears that this system works with manual transmission cars. Anyone using it, and can comment on its reliability?

I checked Compustar's page, but it's a great example of a possibly great product plagued with extremely poor web design.... couldn't sift through all the muck to find the info I needed.

I have remote start with my Compustar alarm and it's been FANTASTIC. It can be a little fiddly with leaving the car in reservation mode, but you get used to it after a while.

On a side note I'm on E-85 now as well, and had the shop do some fine tuning (longer crank) to get it to start in the cold on that fuel. So anything's possible. We'll see how it does once it's REALLY cold out.

I have the Viper 5900 on my Evo and have it wired to only start if the car is not in gear and the e-brake is up. I also have it working correctly with a blitz turbo timer. Great alarm and no reliability issues to report on this alarm.
