Drives: 2004 Ralliart

NO AM reception

I have an 04 Ralliart and get no AM reception. FM is perfect. I thought it was my Alpine receiver, but after installing an HD tuner, I still get no AM. I bought the car used with Kenwood deck and a Sirius tuner. and a shorty antenna.
The Sirius was not activated and I heard that Sirius had bad sound quality so I yanked it. That's when I went with the Alpine deck, HD tuner and oem antenna.
Any input or ideas?

You may be too close to the towers..AM signal needs to bounce off of the atmosphere before it comes back down to your radio I believe..

I've never gotten AM signal with my Alpine head unit. Not sure if I did with the OEM unit since I never tried it. Everything is hooked up correctly so I dont know whats wrong. I have a Perrin shorty antenna, maybe it's related to that. I dont ever listen to it so I haven't bothered with it.

Bad Am reception is sometimes/usually related to bad grounding of the radio or antenna.
