Custom SSL box

Just a heads up, I modified my SSL box and put a shallow mount pioneer 10" sub in it and I have blown 3 subs in the past 2 months. I recentley bought a JLw3 and my buddies shop will be modifying the stock SSL box with fiberglass and other materials in order to fit the w3 into it. I will keep you posted with pics when the project starts, and we'll see what the finished product looks like.

As for those that think this is hella work, you have to remember that the carpet is cut differently in the SSL evos, so having a regular box back there looks like ass...

Why not fill the enclosure with batting and run an 8" replacement woofer in the stock enclosure? I plan on trying this, just wondering if you found that to be ineffective.

I tried that exact thing... a little bit more bass, but not great. I upgraded to a shallow mount 10", a bit more bass than the 8", but still not what I am looking for.
BTW I met a guy named Eric last week in Bellingham, he says he used to work with you at HPF. He just bought a black XI, cool guy...

what is the volume of the enclosure, if it is not enough for the subs and you are slightly under powering them you have a high chance of blowing the sub.
