JL 12w3-v2

I was wondering what size amp I would need to power this? I am not familiar with audio so i need some help from you pros. The sub is rated at 600 rms so i would need an amp that handles a peak of 600 rms or more, correct?

I would get a JL 500/1 and call it a day.

600 continuous rms is the maximum but if you want to stay in the optimum range, 250-300 will cut it. i powered this same sub before with a JL 250/1 amp and it provided me with a great balance in my system for overall good sound quality.

I'm not sure how I didn't notice this before, but I'm pretty sure 12w3s (v1 & v2) are rated for 300wrms and not 600. A 500/1 would be overkill. A 250/1, like said above, would be perfect. Any amp that is 3-400wrms would be good.

If your running 1 single sub then yea the JL 250/1 would be fine if your running a set go with the 500/1 but don't turn the gain up too high. I'm running the 500/1 in my system and its powering 3 10" subs just fine. Very clean amp I'm more than pleased with it.
