Starting the slow process of my stereo install. . .

Update!!
Yesterday I started my stereo project that will probably go into the winter if it actually does get finished. I'm going mostly for a stock/stealth look for the interior. As cheap as it is, I really like it the way it is and don't want to clutter it up. Anways, here's some crappy cell pics from tweeter installation. They're from a Polk SR component set.

I "broke" the factory tweeter out of the little mounting bracket. It's glued in there, but it came out pretty easy, although it is ruined.

Here I fit the tweeter. There were spaces in the stock mount that allowed the wiring through. Then I hot glued the mount to the tweeter.

Tweeter mounted back in the car . . .

So far I'm just mounting the woofers in the doors. I'm debating kicks, but I actually use the dead pedal, so we'll see what I can come up with. More to come . . .

Starting the box:

Great choice on the Polk SR speakers. Those are some of the best sounding speakers I've ever listened to. Nice tweeter install too. If you do mount in the doors, you'll need to create an MDF baffle...and judging by how well you did the tweets, that won't be an issue for you to fabricate. Also, which I'm sure you're already planning, dynamat the inside skin of the door and the outer skin as well. Will sound extremely good.

What else is going in the system? Sub? What amp(s)? Head unit? We need more details

I did do the baffle and dynamat. I think I'm going to put a little bit more in though.

At the moment, the headunit is the ida-x100 and amps are alpine also. The lower end ones, not pdx. I have a 12w3 but it's not in at the time. Everything is pretty much getting swapped out over the course of the summer. I'm not sure what amps I'm going to run. I've been thinking about Alpine pdxs or possibly arcs, maybe JLs, but I've had them a couple times before and wouldn't mind trying something new. And they're pretty heavy. I'm keeping the sub or swapping it out with an Image dynamics of similar ratings. Or maybe 2 10s. We'll see. It'll be pretty sick though when I'm done. As far as a headunit, I don't know. I liked the Alpine, but the SRs are definitely showing the lack of sound quality of an ipod. I'll keep it updated as it happens.

Just a suggestion here...keep updating your first post with the new stuff, and just put a post in the body telling that there is an update; that will notify anyone subscribed/monitoring the forum.

Nice job so far, BTW.

I would apply the fiberglass mat to the rear side of the enclosure so that you dont have to do much body work on the front side once you wrap or paint the enclosure.

That's what I do. I have a spray on body filler/primer that fills the texture pretty well.

The subs are ID8s, correct? What is the volume of the enclosure?
