I believe it depends on your location. In Atlanta, I was quoted 699 installed.

That depends on YOU. I did not do it, if you move and the area doesn't use lojack, you are SOL. I had my motercycle stolen. I figure, this is why I have insurance. I do not want my toy back after someone has raped it

there are different types of lo jack. if you get the early warning system and all that its gonna be about 1400. if my car gets moved without the transponder thats on my key chain i get a text, a phone call, and an email. i like having the peace of mind plus insurance is cheaper..

Speaking from experience, get a Ravelco anti-theft device and be done with it.

I had On-Star AND Lo-Jack installed on my 06 Silverado which was stolen right out of my driveway in early February of this year

The thieves broke off the factory On-Star antennae, which completely disabled On-Star. And then used a simple GPS scrambler that plugged into the cigarette lighter. The only reason my truck was found THREE weeks later was the thieves wrecked it doing 80mph down a highway in the rain (Police think they wrecked it the same night it was stolen).

Correct me if I am wrong, but you have to live in the said metro area for it to get a signal, correct? I looked into it for my MR, and i live about 90 miles west of Chicago, and according to the Lo-Jack website, I would have to at least live in the suburbs for it to be effective. I guess, chances are, if my EVO is stolen, its going to Chicago anyway, but thats not a guess that I am going to bet on.

As for the GPS, I wonder if your system will get a GPS signal if it is taken into a building, or its loaded into a car trailer, or something of that nature. My GPS navigation never got a signal inside of a shop. Now, chances are you will notice the car is stolen before they get a chance to take it into a building, but thats just another chance you have to take.

I guess my thoughts are, if they are good, and they want the car bad enough, they will get it one way or another, regardless of your security setup. But this is all just my opinion.
