Best alarm out there?

Hi All. Just wanted to ask for opinions. I need to put an alarm in my Evo. What are others using? What is the best? Money not really an option.

Thanks!

I've looked at both the Compustar and the Clifford Matrix series. They look pretty much the same and do all the same features. I am leaning towards the Clifford due to the brand name recognition. Opinions?

Compustar has manual transmission safe models with built in turbo timer. The Clifford/Viper/DEI units require the use a manual transmission add on module (689M NSS) that makes the install more complicated if you still want to use your built in turbo timer. I have the Clifford 50.5x and have had it for a problem free 1.5 years. I've personally tested it to 9/10 of a mile with trees and other items in the way. I've been using Clifford products for 7 years and have never had one fail or fail to perform. You probably can't loose either way you go. Good luck.

if you have an automatic transmission car, it will not matter. But with a manual transmission, compustar has the edge and their installer will actually install it vs clifford dealers telling you it cannot be installed in a manual transmission.

Turbo timers on our cars with alarm systems are always a complicated problem. You must bypass the immobilizer. You must purchase an extra "box" or something and have an extra key for the turbo timer to work. I said F it. I didn't want to disable the immobilizer. I bought the normal compustar alarm.

Someone lied to you bro!!! You need that module to bypass the immobilizer when starting the car, not to keep it running.

Oh, okay, no you're right. Maybe I got confused because I wanted the remote start as well. That explains it. Makes sense now.

Damn it, now that I think about it, I could have had the damn turbo timer feature without any issues. Wow, and to think it's already been three years!

Hmm....Thanks for all the great info guys. I think I'll go with the Clifford system as I have a Matrix RS3.5 in my truck and have not really had a problem with it. I'll see about installing it myself as I installed the system on my truck and have not had any issues with it. I'm sure I can get the turbo timer to work right.
