Best iPod location?? where did you put it?

ok, I have a Pioneer HU with full iPod control in my EU spec EVO IX (climate controls are low down near the gear lever). The HU is in the upper DIN and the lower DIN is taken up by gauges (boost, oil temp and oil press). now: where did you people put the iPod? looking for ideas/suggestions/pics/mounting accessories...of course I'm trying to avoid the glovebox...

thanks!!!

The glovebox is the best place. Why avoid it? You don't need to touch your iPod if your HU has full control. It also keeps your iPod out of sight so thieves aren't tempted. Go with the glovebox.

I was already building a switchplate for the WBO2 connection, so I figured I had room for the iPod as well. It's made with 2x2 carbon weave and rests on 4 of those little flat pegs used to support cabinet shelves. It's not fastened to the car, so I can lift the plate for storage if needed (though it is a little awkward).

I mounted mine in the center console in a custom fiberglass holder that I made. I wrapped the I-pod in shrinkwrap, sprayed it with wax, then laid glass and resin over it in about 4 layers. once hardened, I poped my I-pod out of it., then shaped, mounted it to the inside of my center console with resin, and cut/drilled areas for my wires to come through. I then added some adhesive foam tape to the inside to keep it secure and keep it from rattleing.

Of course, the day that you post this, is the day I left my Ipod at home, but when in place, the Ipod just slides down into the holder, flush with the top. To remove it, I cut a slider hole.

Also in the pictures, you will see the additional 12V outlet I installed for my cell phone charger.

Sorry about the quality of the photos, but I am at work.

inside the glovebox FTMFW. If you have a flipout you can just control everything from there anyways...no need to touch the ipod

Although I really like Tempe's solution, mine has been in the glovebox working perfectly for years. Now, if Pioneer would just make its iPod control a little more comprehensive, so it had the same functionality as the iPod itself . . .
