speakers suggestion

why DO the MB QUART PCE 216 6-1/2" COMPONENT SPEAKERS 6.5" PCE216
better than Alpine SPR-17LP 6.5" Type R speakers..And the prices are difference also the MBs cost around like 160 but the Alpine type R spr-17lp cost around 75 for both.. I just looking to get some bass since i have alpine amps 4 channels..
i was going with amps/sub but those would make my car heavier.

i want bass but amp/sub is too much..

im in that same situation, ur never gonna really get the same bass from a component set, that u wud get from a sub. Ur best bet is to have a component set in the front doors and 3 way speakers in the rear dash, and push that with a four channel amp.

MB Quart sounds way better than the alpine, take my word for it, all the sounds are produced clearly, and u get a strong bass line, pair them with MB Quart EKA 116 in the rear dash for a perfect sound, make sure u give all these speakers the right amt of rms power.

What brand/model headunit and amplifier u have?

I used to have the lower model MB Quarts and they were great. I'm saving my money now to get another pair for the Evo. Def go with them, great quality by far

the MB quarts will be brighter/more harsh.. The alpine R's are extremely underrated for their price. They offer a more natural sound IMO. The only MB quarts that i would suggest are the Q's, but even then there's far far better for less money.

what i would do, is a 4ch amp to your STOCK front speakers, and a 10" in the trunk.

+1 to what DontRevMe said.

Have you ever heard the Quarts or are you going on recommendation alone?

If you don't want the extra weight of a sub and you want bass, why not install 6x9's in the rear deck? Its not too much work, good luck.

MB Quarts are indeed very bright speakers. If all you care about is treble and bass, then go ahead and purchase them. If you want natural sound (most people dont), then I would look elsewhere. DontRevMe speaks with experience.

the weight difference between a set of components and a 10"/box is only about 10-15lbs... And MUCH MUCH more effective.. The only way IMO you can get 6.5" speakers to introduce bass into your system is to use 6.5" woofers, put them in a ported enclosure. Which in the end weigh's the same or more than a single 10".

Yeah, to get any reasonable bass from components, you're gonna need to make a AP enclosure.

Not worth it in the Evo.
