Power wire?

Just wanted to know what you guys are using as far as wire brands, ex Monster, Stinger,...

Is a brand better than another? Which one is preferable? What to look for in a wire?

Also, what RCA's are you guys running.

I use Lightning Audio Power wire in 2 gauge. Look for # of strands, flexibility and thickness of insulation.

As for RCAs, I use Planet Waves Cable Station cables which can be cut to length, and built at home with solderless connections.
I have 10 RCA wires in my car, and because they are custom lengths. I can route them away from power cables and make them as short as possible.

I have run monster RCAs (Jesus Christ how expensive), and Rockford Fosgate, but these Cable Station wires are by far my favorite... and I have ZERO noise.

If your not as die hard as the other poster above, you could grab any 4 gauge wire and something decent (brand name youve heard of) from a stereo shop for your install. I had 2 12" audiobahns and a memphis class d amp. I had no noise and plenty of sound. I actually took it out cuz it rattled the back of my car loose, and I hate rattles!!! haha

My setup is going to be 2 arc audio amps, 300.4 and 300.2, Morel Dotech Ovations and 1 12" Arc Audio sub in sealed enclosure.
I do not want to skimp out on rca's and wire and make the system sound not as it should be.

I have JL power wire and the blue series rcas, worked awesome for me!

The other poster is correct. Power wire is Power wire. I am dealing with 1400W in my Evo... If you are under that, the power wire is not as critical.

Just go down to your local audio shop and see what they use in their installs. JL wire is good as well :-)

I have JL. They are good. Fosgate are good too.

You can't go wrong with most of the major companies.



You also have to realize what type of car this nice set-up is going in. Unless you have completely sound dampened your car and have the stock exhaust and stay under 3000 rpms, you are never going to experience the high fidelity of this system. Unless you only listen to it in the driveway.

Not busting your hump, but the Evo is super noisy.

Like others have said, just go with a brand that you have heard of before and you can get from a STEREO shop. I've seen countless autozone, walmart, ebay amp kits come through the shop. The other day a guy came in with a LANZAR 1000 watt amp kit. Cut the end of the power wire off, looked like speaker wire coated with enough insulation to make it the size of 4 gauge

Don't just use anything, Most companys measure the thickness by the overall diameter. Some of those walmart kits are 4 gauge but the copper inside isn't as thick. Our shop sells Rockford Fosgate, their newest stuff is nice. I personally use Stinger Expert Series. One of the best out there, more strands then most, crazy flexible and plain looking. Plain flat gray for power, flat black for ground. Blends in nicely.

As far as RCA's. Tough call, most companys make great RCA's and then they also sell cheap RCA's. You pay for what you get. I use Monster b/c thats what our shop sells but they are kinda pricey.

In terms of power wire and speaker wire, KnuKoncepts has a pretty good bang for the buck. Good quality and flexibility at a decent price. the downside is having to order online and estimate/guess about how much you need. IIRC they have an eBay store in addition to their website.
