Well, here is a way to add a quick 100 pounds...

I recently got...

2 Orion 10" competition subs 1000 watts each
2 sets of orion p 6.2 component sets with cross overs and tweeters
1 Crossfire VR2000D Class D amp pushing 2200 watts
2 Crossfire VR402 2 channel amps for my components pushing 800 watts
1 Pioneer AVH-P6500 indash touch screen DVD player
1 Directed Audio 1.2 cap
1 full amp install kit



Install is tomorrow.... Will get pictures.

Looks good, i would advise you run 2 4gauge lines, one for the bass amp and another for the highs. You will have voltage issues on the factory charging system, aswell. What are your plans for mounting locations for the mids? It would be very nice if you ran both sets in the front.

Nice setup man, it should sound really nice. Make sure you get the spacers for the front door speakers, they will hit the window. Also the speaker hole in the doors and back dash is an oversized 6.5". You will need to make or buy those adapters for the front and rear so that they will fit in there right without gaps on the sides. But it seems like you know what you are doing from the setup you got there. Be careful with that amp for the subs, its going to drain the crap out of your electrical system if you have it going bawls out, even with the cap. If the voltage drops too low the amp will go into protect mode, and in some situations the protection mode will fry from being triggered too much. Crossfire is a quality product, but ive seen it happen on some of the best amps out there(like my Mmatts amp.. R.I.P.) Cant wait to see installed pics.

Yea, ive got all the 4AWG wire sitting here near the box.. Unfortunately i am going to run a set of compnents up fron with the tweeters mounted somewhere, and the second set back on the rear deck with no tweeters. (i lost 1 tweeter!!!)

although the amp is 1 ohm stable (it has been known to produce almost 3000 watts) i have my DVC subs bridged and when i run them to the amp, my amp will see it as 4 ohm which i will get about 500 per sub rather than 1000 per subs as they sit. I actually have 2 more of these subs at home, but refuse to use 4 10''s in my evo...\

The other 2 amps will be connected to push 100 watts per speaker in the doors.

It is going to be a "race track" make shift install meaning i am going to have quick disconnects on the subs and mount the amps to them, so that when i go to the track, i can just lug that whole thing out and the only thing left are the Xovers and some wires


Going to install everything right now actually and should have some pics by the end of the night... (again, this is not for beauty, i am doing this for the soul purpose listening enjoyment

Thats the only thing i am worried about right now, dont want it to go into protect mode.. hear they start to sizzle when you do that and shortly after you get a nice smell of burning plastic and rubber

I am going to try and make some quick templates for the speakers out of foam maybe and secure them with possibly a thin wood...

One thing i am unaware of though, is the mounting depth of the front speakers. My orions sit 2.75" deep without the grill..
do you know the mounting depth? thanks in advance...

Well with you running the amp at 4 ohms it shouldnt be that bad, the cap will help of course. An optima red top would really be your best bet, and they are not a whole lot more expensive than a 1 farad cap(Depending on what brand). From the looks of the midbases some 1/2" spacers should work. I had some Dimond Audio D6's in my evo for a little while and they where pretty deep, a little deeper than the Orions you have, and the 1/2" spacers where plenty big enough. You could probably get away 1/4" i bet, or see if the base of the grill will work.

Nice choice of stuff! We are actually the authorized dealers for Directed Electronics here in the Bahamas which of course owns Orion now along with a few others like Precision Power, ADS, Polk Audio and so forth. You said your subs were good for 1000w which makes them the "P's". One of my guys had (8) P12D2's in his 2006 Ranger extended cab running off of (2) of the Orion 2500D's amplifiers (2500w rms @ 1 ohm)which meant he put 625 rms into each and they seemed like they could take even more! The new HP's are even nicer!!! Distortion is your biggest killer so tune it nicely ! Good luck with it man...I'm sure you will enjoy the Orions

WOW!!! the doors and rears are AMAZING! no distortion at all. I am a little unsatisfied with the 2 subs though, and may go to my other set up sitting here 1 of 2 kicker 15L7's which i had in a GTI before.. may just do 1 though..

Overall i give this system an 8 out of 10.. great mids, the tweeters are so crisp i can turn her up and she dont even squeal! These are the first set of 10''s i have ever ran for actual subs, and i kinds miss the thump of the 12's and 15's....

You will get used the the different sounds the 10's make. I am sure they still go low and sound great. I have had a set of those and I much preferred the sound over the L5's or L7's...kickers are too muffled and not enough clarity. Nice setup though...now you need 20hp more to lug it around

LOL +1 it feels like i have something hanging on my back when i am driving..

I am thinking about taking out that sub setup and getting 1 sub and running a smaller amp, as well as a quick disconnect setup so i am able to yank her out in a hurry right before track days..

My dvd player has something wrong with the cable connecting it from the reciever to the screen resulting in it flickering on and off and staying off on certian hard bumps. So as of right now my screen stays in..

Looks like i need an AVIC-Z2 or a AVIC-d3 im officially out of stereo money too, so this is not going to be easy..

If you want one sub that is not too heavy and is a great sounding sub I reccomend the Elemental Designs 130.v2. I have owned many subs (used to work at an audio shop) and this is by far my favorite sub for sound quality and the amount of output it makes for a 12. There customer service is the best and there warranty is no questions asked. Just a thought if you were looking for one sub. Nice looking setup bty, do you have an finished pics? Also how do you like the orion components?

As for the orion components, top top notch.. i have yet to have them distort even under the hardest of pushing..

LOL and i yelled at someone a few weeks ago about attempting to put the oval block into the circle hole

That thing has a weird shape to it.. any specs on it including weight?
