There is a switch beneath a sticker on the bottom center of the headunit that probably says void if removed. Can't remember if its silver or white. Move the switch to the other position and the video lock is bypassed. If you have a warranty on the unit, it'll be voided once that sticker is removed. If you don't have a warranty or don't care, then you're all set.

Drives: 05 Apex Silver Evo VIII

If it has the parking brake wire like my Pioneer, which is a year old, you just have to hook up a toggle switch. Hook the switch up to the parking brake wire, ground the other side and when you want to watch dvd's just flip the switch 2 times and thats it.

That was all fine and dandy with the N1 but the N2 and N3 have a gyro integrated into the video sytem and possibly the vss wire plays a role in this. Once the vehicle starts moving, the unit will detect it and lock out video. The N1 required a wire to be grounded while the N2 and N3 haved a master bypass pin setup and switch (respectively) under the dash unit. This topic should be all over this forum as it has been discussed many times.

i searched before posting my question and didnt see anything .... i used avic n-3 as a search subject and all i found was a lot of questions about what people thought about the unit.

anyhow, we located the switch that was posted earlier, and that fixed it.... thanks a lot for the quick reply.
