Getting some sound into my RS, Please Help!

hey guys i have an evo9 rs, first question is are all the speakers prewired for sound? what about the head unit? what is that white connector i see attached to the block off plate? if it is prewired than what type of speaker/size should i get in order for it to plug and play, whats a good set that will give me some bump without the need of a sub.

Yes the White wires going to the Block off plate is the harness for the Radio. I would suggest Circuit City and buy the Harness from OEM -> Whatever brand head Unit you buy. It saves a lot of time!

As for the speakers they are 6 3/4". If you use Apline Type S 6.5" they come with a bracket so they will work no problem. Then you just have to solder the speaker connects and plaug them in!

Generally, a 6.5" speaker has a mounting plate for a 6.5-6.75" hole. You can run a 6.5" as long as it has a compatible mounting plate for the 6.75" hole. ie, Pioneer, Polk Audio, Alpine, etc, etc.

You need to basicly cut it and make new connection. They wont fit because the harness is for stock evo/lancer speakers . I went thru same **** because i own RS

as far for aftermarket radio you need a harness plug/play for regular lancer, they fit. I think harness is like $10 bux, No harness is required if ur using stock evo/lancer radio.

GL!

i used to have a 3000gt and if that is similar at all to the evo, when you cut the wires, and get a harness the wires are all the same color so your shouldn't have a problem connecting them.

if you don't care too much about sound quality, I would just buy stock Lancer/evo speakers and unit off EvoM...cheap and direct plug and play...no worries about fitment...

They do sell direct connections for the factory harnesses. Crutchfield.com would be the place to contact. They offer them free with all of their speaker purchases. If you can avoid cutting the factory harness, I would. Especially in a new car.

Follow the link and see what your after.
