Those with aftermarket alarms .. ?
I installed my alarm/remote start this weekend but didn't quite have enough time to remove exterior panels looking for the most ideal location for the siren. Those of you with aftermarket alarms where is your siren mounted? Pics/Description?
The horn output works but its sounds retartded. i like the fruity chirps you get from the siren.

I threw it way under where the grommet people use to pass through the firewall, tight fit, I used zipties
I thought of mounting it in the fenderwell like I usually do, but I got lazy and figured if they could get to it or the wires I'm done anyways.. Make sure to put in the hood pin switch.

got a pic? Which grommet is that? Did you have to take anything off to get it in there?
I guess I just got lazy, even though I pulled my entire dash to make the wiring easier. I looked for a while and there was nothing easy I could see from the top and I didn't want to pull the platic underside or the front facia. But the horn (in less than 24 hours) is annoying me I miss my fruity chirps.

I always use the turbo timer when I leave the car and have never parked with it in gear ever. I dont park any of my car in gear. The car running away is not possible and I am the only one that drives it.
And as far location for a siren. Driverside firewall near clutch fluid resevoir. There is definately enough room over there because I got a few sirens littered throughout the engine bay.

If you look at the post above, it's crammed way under the ABS unit (that thing to the left side of the siren with all those metal hoses coming out of it). I couldn't take a pic if I wanted to since you can't see the siren

I looked there but then wondered what all I would have to move to get it crammed down there! I'll have to look again now that I know someone else has made it work.
I'll have to look for this grommet you speak of too. I hear people talk about it but all my stuff is run through on the drives side by the clutch peddle and that ones hard to get big hands back to (but easy when the dashboard is out )

Honestly it's very difficult to get to that grommet and I don't think I have the biggest hands/arms either.
If you drop the glove box out and use a longer screwdriver you will be able to push it out. Once that is done it's easier to try to snake wires through there especially if you have a coat hanger or something to put through it.
As for the alarm.. my siren was a little bit smaller, but it did take a lot of maneuvering and unbolting a few parts to make some room..

OK. I'll do some looking in a day or two when I get some time. This is the siren I have. Its not tiny, but its the smallest one I have had and its smaller than the one pictured above I do believe.

Your not kidding, thats tight in there. I see a place that might work. Well two places. The place you picked thats down there far and may be easier to get to from underneath and another place that I would need to fab up a bracket for. I'll take a pic of what I am thinking in a bit and see what you guys think.

Alright here is what I am thinking. This is kinda behind the passenger side strut tower. I just need to make a bracket for it to munt it to the ABS bracket!
Would be nice to pull that ABS bracted and weld some tabs to it, but I think that bracket is gonna be a nightmare to get out without disconnecting the brake lines so I will just make soemthing to bolt on.

haha, i have a remote start on my evo too. i put my siren right where 03evo4g63 has his siren, it just seemed to be the ideal place.
haha, yes remote starts on stick cars can be bad.
ie: my mom remote started her car in reverse and it drove up and over an island in a parking lot and ran over a cherry tree....
