there is no way other than a rf-modulator to use sirius on a xm cd player and you will lose quality over the direct connect xmradio.
rf-mod uses radio freq so thats why you lose quality.

my evo is the only car i've owned where the factory speakers still sound good with an aftermarket cd player, without being over=powered.

if you put the model number in at crutchfield.com you'll get a good breakdown of what it's capable of

even though the radio might say XM ready, you can still add a sirius direct connect with no problems. had that exact radio with the direct connect and had no issues.

SIR-PNR2 is the part number . . . it's a direct connect Sirius tuner, the same as the direct connect XM tuner that plugs into the IP Bus connector on the back of the radio. The P80 was the top of the line for Pioneer's non-Premier head units.

It's a decent unit. Better than stock, yes - but not the greatest. We don't sell very many Pioneer decks at Tweeter - Alpine is our most sold.
On the bright side though - Pioneer's head units have really easy-to-use and good EQ's, especially when you aren't going to be running an external amp for your speakers. And for the money, the power output is decent and causes little distortion for stock speakers.
This is not the head unit of choice for people who're going to go for a full system of new speakers, subs, and amps - but for a factory replacement it does the job well... and hey - it was free for you!

I'd take this over any of Alpine's current lineup.
