In-Fact the Bel rx 650 is better than both. Check this link out...
http://www.radarbusters.com/support/...radar-best.asp
The highest price doesn't always equate to the best product...
I have the Rx650 and I can tell you the Range on this thing is amazing!! Both Front and Rear, this detector is the best choice for Evo owners, save a few dollars for Mods....get the Bel Rx 650..

why did they call it STi
radars that are placed side by side for testing actually interfere with one another...at least one wont perform optimally
too lazy to read it
but the STi doesnt have the arrows huh
i heard that V1 looses the patent on that soon so i'm waiting to see what will come up

keep in mind that the site that did the test receives its detectors directly from the manufacturer for the purposes of testing. car and driver does the same test only using radar detectors they buy directly from a retailer. in every car and driver test, the valentine has come out on top. they even make a point to discuss manufacturers sending modded detectors to testing sites such as this so they can sway the results in their favor. there's a reason all of the sites like this one rated the escort 8500 over everything else when it first came out. i bought one after having an older valentine and returned it before the 30 days were up because it sucked compared to my older valentine. i had a friend in florida do the same thing. i upgraded my valentine and it works great. at least wait until c&d does their test before running out to buy one. also, i still agree with the people who say that once you have the arrows, you'll never go back to a unit that doesn't have them.

Pretty impressive. However, I like the arrows my v1 has. Also I like the upgrade plan the v1 offers, i'm gonna keep my v1 for life.

btw, the issue about backlighting the controls is rediculous if you know how a v1 works since there's only one knob. yeah, it doesn't have backlighting, but once you have the thing for a week you could use it with your eyes closed.

I agree 100%. I've used both extensively and while the 8500 is a great radar detector (If the V1 didn't exist I'd use it) it is no Valentine One. I've also heard what thisxguy mentioned but obviously can't confirm it either.
In any case I've used the V1 now for 5+ years and through near 10 cars (including 3 evo's) and have never gotten a ticket. I'll be buried with this thing LOL.
