Back to work - Stereo Install

another member on this forum inspired me to get back to finishing up my trunk. its not nearly as nice as what he has done, but it works for me. and i can bring my sub out when i go to the track or need trunk space...

keep in mind this isnt even close to done yet. it is just piece by piece.

the first pictures were the wiring i did over a year ago. something so i could just listen to it.

These are from last january, ill get the new ones up later today...

lol, your interior is almost as bad as mine I can't wait to see what you plan on doing to the trunk. All the wire exposed scares me, but atleast is all easily removable. If you have any questions about the install you can always ask me or jdub or anyone else on this forum. Good luck, you probably won't need it cuz we got one of the easiest cars to work on.

I first took out all of the hardware.

Made this for a brace to mount the amps

Made this to cover the amps and say evolution on it when lit up...

I went off the internet and found lettering that you find on an evolution badge and photocoppied it a lot so that it is 3" tall and 15" across and traced it onto the wood

More tracing...

I like your plates The car looks really clean in silver, too.

edit* an update!
Looks like a good start! What are your plans w/ the cover and lettering? Are you going to use like a scroll saw to cut the lettering out, and then carpet it? It's going to be pretty tough to get it to be readable if you're going to carpet it. It might work w/ vinyl, but it'd be a nightmare of a job to do. What I did on my 4Runner was use two pieces of plexi, one in front of the other. On the front one, I used mirrored window tint, and the back one had a vinyl sticker w/ "4Runner" cut out of it. You couldn't see the text unless the light behind it was lit up.
I like your highlights too. LoL

haha, thanks,

For now the cover will cover the amps, and i will probably put a neon behind "evolution" i havent decided if i am going to put plexiglass behind it or not to make it more reflective. all i know was it was a pain to get "evolution" wrapped

oh, you've already finished. Haha.
You could always use mirrored plexi so it's totally reflective. And maybe some edge lit plexi on top of that so it glows from the sides.

edit* more pic! Holy crap. Mad props for that. Jeeze. LoL.

Alumapro makes great caps and all but its not the prettiest, so i found a spot behind the rear seats that the cap fits perfectly

mounted the board to the V brace and mounted the amps up

Started hooking up all the wires

And this is how it looks currently.

Still far far far away from being done....

looks nice and clean so far

I was going to ask how the board was mounted, but then I saw the screws in the cap pic. Haha. If Illinois is really wet, you should think about protecting the holes w/ paint or some other sealant. Not that big of a deal, but it might rust a tiny bit after a few years. I'm anal so I primer any holes that drill or cut through sheet metal, even in California.

Looks awesome so far though. Keep us updated!

Lol, its funny, how anyone who knows roadshop well can tell what it is. It was obvious to me from the start based on the garage. Anyway, looks like you love what you do, you FT/PT, Asst. MGR S&I or just an hourly associate there? What location are you at? 3707 in lancaster, PA did one for their demo car on the sales floor.

Always nice to meet other roadshop people here on the boards.

Quick edit, wondering why you didnt run all your wiring behind the amp instead of straight down from it. Like on the sound boards, setup the same way, hole in the middle and all the wiring goes under the amp. Looks cleaner IMO, time issue, or just forgot about it? Good job regardless, i am just a neat freak.
