Sony Giga Panel Test Request

I have a Sony Giga Panel. I have been less than impressed with the Sony performance / quality.

I was wondering if anyone else has a Giga Panel and would be willing to run a little test for me.

Take the CD out of the head unit.

With the unit off, press and hold the main knob till the settings come up.

Push the main knob until the Aux In screen comes up and turn it to set Aux in to off.

Turn off the unit and turn it back on.

When you press the source button you should toggle between radio and MP3 only with no other sources in between. This important you must have only two active sources MP3 and standard FM radio.

Then start the MP3's Giga Panel playing, press the source button and switch to radio. Press the source button again, and switch back to MP3.

What do you hear?

This test will not cause any damage or any loud noises. I would tell you what might happen but I don't want to bias the test.

Please post what happens when you toggle with the source button between only the MP3 and the radio.

I either have a bad Giga Panel or Sony has a bug in their system, I am just trying to figure out which.

Thanks

Thanks

Thanks for checking,

Mine will not switch between Tuner and Giga panel sources without loosing all volume on the Giga panel MP3.

After switching from Tunner to Giga Panel MP3 you hear nothing even with the head unit cranked to full volume. If you then turn the unit off and back on. The MP3 volume is normal again. Press source again and the MP3 is gone again.

If you put in a CD or leave the aux active, then the source button works normally.

It only has a problem when there are only two sources, FM tuner and Giga panel MP3 .

I guess this means that there is something wrong with my head unit, I will call them and try to sort it out.

Sony and Circuit CIty have made this simple radio install into a nightmare.

I should have just left the RS factory - no radio, no speakers, and no problems.

Thanks for checking this for me.
