New alarms out!
Read the story here: http://www.hereshow.ca/news_detail.asp?nid=155
1 Mile range sounds good to me. If anyone is using the old 881xp or 791xv or the clifford system a simple brain and antenna swap will upgrade you to the new version. Can't wait till mine comes in!

wow.. this is great news. I love my viper, but range was somewhat lacking. Give us more detail on swapping, and where to get it.

That's true with old technology, but with the new technology SST (Spread Spectrum Tech) it is suppose to bounce off of objects and reach its destination. Of course being inside blocking the view will have a little effect on the range, the new technology works much like a cordless telephone on a digital band instead of an analog band. I am anxious to get this in my car.
As far as swapping goes, unplug your old brain, plug in the new one, run your new antenna in place of the old one, and use the new transmitter. And voila, you are upgraded to the mile range!

Compustar is coming out with a Pro series that is supposed to have 1.25 mile range for command, and 2 mile for feedback from the car.

im 90% sure its the same alarm as the 791.. DEI had to wait for legal reasons to advertize a 1 mile range.

I've noticed an improvement on the range personally. About the vendor trading you the alarm, i would say it depends on the vendor. They dont have to trade you back and you pay the difference. I did it with 1 customer who buys everything through us. So, it varies, doesn't hurt to ask your vendor though.
