Drives: 06 RR Evo RS (sold ) RR Evo X GSR

Just bought some infinity ...

references I think they're called? I'm not putting any subs or anything in, I just wanted something in the RS to hear some sort of tunes. Got them from crutchfield.. the guy said they were a little better then the punch and pioneer 6.5's I was looking at. What do you all think? Ever hear these in anything?

i think that if it was that important to you, you probably should have asked the question BEFORE you bought the speakers...

I agree Kappa is the more superior line. I had Kappas in my last car and they are an excellent speaker for the price!

Those are good speakers, and will do just fine to play musics on your RS. Heck, they are far better than crappy paper cone stock speakers. If you just want some tune in your car, you made good choice since crutchfield(?) usually include speaker spacers with their order which you'll need to install 6.5 size speaker in EVO.

funny, i just got some myself at BB's for 45 bux! but my friend hooked it up... I installed them earlier today.

You wont need the metal ring, you wont need the grills. If these are going in your rear.

You will need to cut the three big sqaure tabs. mount the speaker, use 4 of the big screws to mount it onto the bracket it, then cut the screw flush with the mounting plate. Then all you need to do is put the speaker on and use the 4 silver small screws that your speaker was originally screwed with. The speaker wire, i left the stock harness, and i just had some spade connectors laying around and I cut them so that they fit inside the harness, then on the other side, i used the female spade connectors to connect the to the speaker. and walla. They sound good, i angled the tweeter towards the front, but now im thinking of angling them to the rear since they sound too bright.

i should have made a write up..

Cool, thanks for the info. Yeah, they are sending the connectors to hook up with the car, plus they are sending the rings, door handle puller, etc. That's the one thing that I like about crutchfield, I mean yeah I could get on ebay and get them a lot cheaper, but they send little things that can really help make things easier, plus the shipping was free... so that saved me 10 or 15$ too.

Sorry to be the negative guy, but Infinity Ref's are WACK!!!! I bought a pair a while back and they were very disappointing. There are alot better speakers on Crapfield. You can save money by buying the same speakers on eBay for much less. They will still be brand new. Enjoy your Infinity Krappas. Don't expect to be able to crank them without tons of distortion

interesting that all the reviews I have read on them say the opposite... maybe you didn't hook them up right... or got a bum pair.

i had some referance series for a little while i had both 6.5 and 6x9 and they werent bad at all very clear speakers that didnt distort. iI liked it because they didnt make any bass becasue i wanted them to be all vocal so i could leave the bass to me subs.

I used to sell that stuff, and I must say... Stay away from references!! Stay away from Pioneers as well, waste of money! Alpine usually does a good job, as well as eclipse, and JL has some low-end range speakers that are nice.
