EVO RS Owners- Stereo Wiring Harness?

This one goes out to the stereo-less guys.. I removed the black plastic faceplate covering on the RS and behind it there is a bunch of wires- with what looks like a "false" harness with all white wires connected to the back of the faceplate, and also an antenna plug connected to the back as well.

My questions are:

(1) Is the RS actually pre-wired for a stereo from the factory? Meaning, is the "false" harness actually connected to a real harness with power/ground/turn-on (there is another harness that it appears connected to, with actual wire colors).

(2) If I removed the door panels, would I actually see speaker wires already there (with just no speakers?) Or do I have to run my own wiring?

(3) Is the antenna plug functional if I plugged that into a head unit? I am guessing yes since the car has an antenna from the factory. This is why I thought it might come pre-wired for a complete stereo.

Thanks for the help guys! I need some tunes!

Regards,

Goto Bestbuy or local stereo shop, they have the harness that goes to the prewired harness for the deck. Doors and rear are prewired for speakers. The rear speaker wires are underneath the rear deck speaker grills, theyre taped down with black tape.

Yeah, everything is already pre-wired for you (including the antenna)...it's all plug n play. Also, your visors probably don't have mirrors...I did a full conversion on my RS but now I'm parting it out if you're interested in the visors with vanity mirrors.

Harness is the one from ALL Lancers 2002-2005 right (including non-EVO)?

Also, where does this harness plug into? Do you remove the "dummy" harness with the white wiring plugged into the back of the plastic faceplate and plug in the head unit harness to there? More details would be appreciated. Thanks.

Crutchfield has you covered, but you still have to do a some soldering.
Their instructions are VERY easy to follow.

Metra 70-7001 for the head unit.

Metra 72-8104 for the speakers.

Four black plastic Bell license plate nuts $.97 from walmarts will allow you to mount the fronts. Just square holes in the door, nothing to take a screw. Just snap these in ready to go.

Need to hook up the Radio Preamp from the antenna, don't miss that.

These rings work for mounting in the 7" din openings

My speakers suck but the install went fine.

Somewhat on-topic: Will the Metra 70-7001 work for the MR also?
