Absolutely, have you done any research on the FP red??? lots of gains considering it's a direct replacement for the stock turbo. what kind of performance gains are you looking for out of it?

Yeah.. You gains with any kind of bolt on. Whether it be N/A bolt ons or turbo bolts ons. It's just some cars respond better to certain bolt ons then others. And theose bolt ons will respond better to a tune..

Have you done any research on the red? there are people in the 500 range with the reds and supporting bolt ons... Do some research on the turbo before jumping into anything.

the red def makes good power with bolts on and tune, but keep in mind if your looking for high whp like 500 u'll need lots of boost I'd rec some form of injection or e85 n such

don't you have to rebuild your block ? i heard the block would only support up to 450hp. I don't know what level of boost tho ?

Some would say you don't have to but I would think its a something you do for peace of mind, I say built block to get the full potential out of the fp red, a lot of the fp red equip cars have a lot of supportin mods and run big boost

The stock block can handle over 450 whp easily. You just have to change the headstuds if your running really high boost. Besides, its really not the whp that blows the motor, its the torque and high rpms. I am running 470awhp/410fptq and it is running fine, and I expect it to for quite some time. Some people who run around 450 do lose the motor, such is life, but its not a line in the sand, over and your screwed. Just a means to say you should start reinforcing your internals...

Buchnerj,
Did you do the 1x1 with your headstuds, or did you remove the head?

I say just take the head off and do it right the first time with a new head gasket, you don't want to take that kinda chance, the oem head gasket is a crush type/ one time use, once you loosen a stud theres a good chance that the gasket won't seal properly anymore,

I make 540whp on the stock head studs. They're certainly not a requirement. If you have a solid tune you won't knock. No knock = lower cylinder pressure. Lower cylinder pressure means less stress on your head bolts. Less stress on the bolts = no head lift. It's all in the tune.
I made 480whp with a Red, TBE, Filter, and c16 fuel @ 30+psi
