Drives: 04 Evo RS Rally Car

A Bass Ackwards question.. Can you make an evo8 N/A?

We have an evo8 that is a rally car, but under Rally America rules, novices can't run AWD turbo cars... Not to mention, we would be running open class, and running against guys like block & pastrana will leave us without a chance to come close to succeeding..

Anyways... I'm wondering if there is any way to either A. make the 4g63 in the Evo8 naturally aspirated, or if any motors from the lancer, galant, or anything like that would drop in and work with the evo drivetrain, so that we can run in the Open Light class if we want to..

Has anybody ever heard of or completed such blasphemy?

Drives: 05 Silver Evo 8.5, 03 TB Evo 8 Project, 03 Flat Black Evo 8 daily, 07 R1... Also Sievers' 2.3L Evo 8 @ 40+ psi

Strap a filter on the upper intercooler pipe.

Just kidding! But...Did you mean to say "novices can't run turbo cars"?

From past experience, it will be easier and more cost effective to rent a Production class car for 2 events to get rid of your novice status.

I know it's not the answer you wanted, but it is the easiest way to go racing.

oops... fixed...

It would probably be more cost effective for us to just buy an MK2 VW already built and rally that for a year or so to get seat time... but i'm just curious if this is a possibility, especially since i have junkyard connections and can probably get a motor for next to nothing if its feasible..

Our evo is already caged and will be logbooked soon (As soon as i finish the pillar down bars & a few more gussets)... Just looking for a way to get us competing without having to say "oh hi, here's the best in the world, try and keep up and not look like a fool" lol.. Even though we know we'll look like fools.

And we cant run GT in the evo.. The rules are too stupid. I took out the wiring for the rear wiper, so it bumped us into open class lol.
