Question recirculation issue?

I have an 03 evo 8. I purchased it 3 weeks ago. It had a hks ssqv bov with the recirculation tip already installed. however the intake did not have a place made onto it for a hose to connect to the bov and no hose on the bov itself.
I made a hole on the intake and welded a 1" tube to it. I then connected them with a 1" hose. Now the car runs like total ass! I fear that it has a leaky bov and unmetered air is getting added to my system.
Has anyone had an issue like this and are their any rebuild kits for the HKS bov? Thanks
