Kelford 280's ???? should I do it....

I bought Kelford 280's about 4 months and still haven't put them in. LOL I'm so lazy.

Anyway, I have been pondering if I should trade them in for some Kelford 272's instead.
Have any of you tried the 280's if so how much power loss was there and where did it occur?
What was you power range did power fall of at all?
I don't plan on going past 8000 rpm at all, do you think that it is a waste to use this cam if I am only going to 8000?

I am about to put a MasterPower T61 on the car. Motor is stock.

I'm about to get 280s, but I'm only doin the 280 cause I'm gettin a bigger turbo soon, If you plan on keeping the stock turbo you should probably go with the 272s.

I made an equal length manifold and decided to use a Masterpower T64 instead, I have a few laying around so what the heck. The T64 spools up 30+psi at 4700 on my 1g dsm so it should work great on the EVO. Also I have springs and retainers.

I am just pondering if I should even use the 280's. I don't plan on turning more than 8000rpm so I don't know if I will be out of the powerband for these cams. I searched and searched for some dyno info on these and can't find any.

Is this car going to be a DD or just a weekend warrior? Mine was a DD so i went conservative and went the 272 route, good idle, noticeable power gains, idle is manageable...

If you do then make sure to pay close attention to your piston to valve clearence and your valve stem height location. Don't ask me how I know =(

A quick read of the FP 5R cams will show you what to look for. You need to be 100% sure of all of your clearences. With the 272's you can prety much install and go.

Even though you are not running 5R cams pay close attention to the recommendations on this page as the 280's and 5R's have similarities in lift and duration. None of this should be taken lightly and don't put them in unless you are 100% sure.

Best of Luck!
