Weird Boost Leak

So recently i replaced some things and decided to boost leak test the car again.. soo i tested it using the inlet of the turbo like i always do.. and tested it to 20psi, it was fine.. soo i decided to go to 30. it was going fine than all of a suddon a weird releasing noise came and than it would not hold even 1 psi. soo i thaught i popped a coupler... nope all of them were fine...

soo i tried listenin for the noise.. it was too extreme to pinpoint it soo i decided to test bypassing the turbo.. hooked the tester to one side of the intercooler and it still wouldnt hold... sounds like the boost is going into the motor and not holding..

soo i figured throttle body seals again.. soo i ordered the works ones and replaced them... than boost leak tested it again and it still wont hold.. this time i went thru the turbo and did not bypass it.. the air sounds like its coming from the turbo but u cannot feel anything.. it also sounds like it is going thru the motor and not holding at all

anyone have any idea????

also i am throwing a P1071 system to lean code

let me know what u think the issue is..

my new turbo goes on next weekend and i want this taken care of

thanks

If you remove oil cap, can you hear air inside, when pressurized?..

i will have to try that... i know i can hear a sound like the air is going into the motor.... like it will not hold any psi of boost on the boost leak test

u do know if ur gonna boost leak test the piping....ur supposed to cap off the intercooler piping at the throttle body that way u dont pressurize the motor...and ull find a lot of leaks which will help with driveability i know the shop that tuned my car n built my motor i have upgraded couplers and tbolt clamps and they still found 5 boost leaks throughout my piping....good luck

yeah u only cap off the throttle body if ur looking to see if ur piping is leaking.. not if ur listening for throttle body, intake mani leaks.. everyone just does it thru the intake of the turbo.. the best way is to do it from ur lower ic pipe....

im gonna say yes to hearing air coming out the oil cap.. honestly now that i did the throttle body seals i dont hear any air at all coming from the intake mani just from the turbo area but it sounds internal

what could this be??

so i ran the tester again and came up with check engine code for egr valve insufficiant...

soo i felt around the intake mani and the valve and came to find out the vaccum line on top the egr valve musta blew off during my boost leak test...

soo i fixed that, reset my ecu and drove 50 miles.. runs alot better and no check engine light yet ( crosses fingers)

i bet when i was testing it all the air was pouring out of this vaccum

soo good i found this

now its time for new turbo install next weekend
